The outfield carousel has definitely surprised me so far as I thought a lot of that would leave with Dusty.
Dubon is a reliable player and a heck of a utility guy to have. He has also delivered some clutch hits with RISP in a season where they have been hard to come by. At the same time, he is what he is, an athletic, versatile player who is a singles hitter with limited pop. Again, very valuable on the bench and as a stand-in starter, but not someone who should be time-sharing with Chas or Meyers. In fact, I would argue his best usage is to get 1-2 starts each week at 2B and let Altuve DH.
Chas has the highest upside due to a real bat.
I think we know what Meyers is as well - a .700-.750 OPS CF with plus defense, which is someone you should feel great about starting everyday and batting ninth. You also are prepared to pinch hit for him in a late inning situation if you have a better option.
To me, Chas is an everyday starter. He should start in LF in all games in which Meyers starts in CF, and start in CF on days in which Yordan players LF.
I get that they need to commit ABs to Loperfido now that he is called up, but most of those need to come at 1B, not at the expense of a quality player, especially given the dearth of alternatives with Abreu's demise.
If Meyers, or even Chas, ends up being a cog in an important trade, then so be it, but for now Chas needs to be playing every day and Meyers needs to be starting the majority of games.
