One interesting thing about Dubon...pitchers have thrown him a fastball 66% of the time. That definitely won't continue all year.

In March/April, #Astros Ronel Blanco was 3-0, 1.65 ERA - Current AL ranks: 3rd in ERA & WHIP, 1st in BAA

- Allowed 2 R or less in all 5 starts
- Began his season w/ no-hitter
- Astros won 4 of his 5 starts (blown SV in 9th in the other)
- He should be the AL pitcher of the month pic.twitter.com/mkXM3NYfub
The top 2 candidates are very unlikely. I'd say the other is Mason Miller, the A's closer. 10 games, 7 saves, 1.46 ERA, 0.89 WHIP. 25 strikeouts in 12.1 innings which is an obscene 18.2 K/9 inning clip. He's on pace for 41 saves and 145 K as a reliever.EastCoastAgNc said:In March/April, #Astros Ronel Blanco was 3-0, 1.65 ERA - Current AL ranks: 3rd in ERA & WHIP, 1st in BAA

Justin Verlander will start Wednesday in the second game of the series against Cleveland, Joe Espada said. The Astros have not set starters for games one or three.

Hunter Brown will sit in the bullpen again today. Joe Espada said the Astros want to have coverage with Framber Valdez only expected to have 70 to 75 pitches in his first start back from the IL.

Joe Espada said he spoke to the team after the series in Chicago: "I wanted to put that series in Chicago behind us and use Mexico as a little starting point, a reset button. I know how excited the players were to come in here and play in front of the fans in Mexico City."
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) April 28, 2024
Espada said it was the first time he's addressed the team after a loss: "It was more, 'Put things behind us. We need to do X, Y and Z better. Let's do those things and if we do that, we'll be fine.' It was a good response watching the way they played last night."
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) April 28, 2024
Josh Hader last pitched on April 19. Espada said "we've been trying to get him in there" and Hader was going to pitch yesterday before it became a blowout. He indicated the Astros will try to use Hader today as waiting until after the off-day would approach a 10-day layoff.

Cristian Javier threw a bullpen today. The Astros consider it a possibility Javier could return for the second series of the upcoming homestand against Seattle.

Espada said: "The vibe here the last couple of days, it feels like we're kind of turning the corner. We all know it's a matter of time. Getting the rotation back and getting the relievers to give us some big outs, it's starting to feel like the worst is behind us. We've got to…

Unfortunately, 790 actually started enabling the geofence, so I can't get the games through iheartradio app anymore. MLB app has an option with MLB.tv subscription to get the radio feed, but the app constantly drops minutes of audio for whatever reason. I'm watching some silent baseball today.CFTXAG10 said:EastCoastAgNc said:

I've got 790 fired up. It's not perfectly synced but it's better than the alternative
