Wife is doing about as good as expected. But man night 2 was a lot rougher than night 1. She slept soundly night 1 and last night … not so much.

Yep

Once they realize they can cry it's on. I remember after night one with our first we thought it was gonna be a breeze. Then night two happened

They seemingly cry more weeks 4-8. Ask me how I know.

I don't remember how much they cry. It's God's way of making you want to procreate again.

Meh. Just roll over, wake the wife up, tell her to go take care of the baby and bring you a sammich before she comes back to bed.

After 4-5 months in the nicu we had one come home while the other was still in the hospital for 2 more weeks. They were both constantly upset that the other was gone, but when the second one game home they "talked" to each other and slept the whole night.

Side note: shouldn't staff be issuing threats and handing out bans for all this non-astro talk and posting pictures of non-baseball people? Seems a little hypocritical

Congrats! It gets easier and everything will settle in. Night 1 is always not bad and night 2 ends up being rough. It was like that for both of mine. Hang in there!

If you are there another night, let the nurses take the baby so y'all can sleep.

And when you get home, it will be chaotic, especially for your wife. Shoulder what you can. My wife and I would swap nights as to who would get up with our girls. We were able to get some semblance of sleep.

Did anyone else have kids that wanted to sleep through the night, like from week 1? I had to set alarms for midnight and 4am and go wake up my daughter to feed her for the first 6 months, after pediatrician chastised me for letting her sleep for 7 hours when she was 4 days old

Got lucky here. Mine was born at 28 1/2 weeks. Spent 6 weeks in NICU. Came home and he was already sleeping through the night.

No, I had 1 that slept in 6 hour chunks at 7 weeks which was a Godsend. The rest had colic which was hell on earth

Know how I know Astros suck….not a single complaint for this sidetrack. Maybe this is just the distraction we needed to keep us together.

Congrats TJack. Get a baseball and write her birth stats on it and put her footprint on it. I did that with my son for myself and both his grandfathers.

Might have been a humble brag because he's the only boy in a family of 6 female cousins and a sister

We had all of our girls sleeping through the night within a few days of getting home because we never woke them for feedings during the night. Our rule was to let a sleeping baby sleep. We never really had to experience being up during the night.

If the Astros turn it around, who's having a baby next slump?

I wasn't born during baseball season, but if you were, you should see what the Astros did on your actual birthday or your kids' birthdays and post it here. Baseball Reference can help you with precise dates and years.

My girls came home from the hospital in June 2012. The first one was a 4-1 loss to the Reds, the second was a 6-2 loss to the *****es. How did that 2012 go from 22-23 to 55-107?

Also shoutout to the Astros losing 13-0 on the day I got married. Felipe Paulino started that game and gave up 9 runs in 2 innings.

My oldest is 11. I told my mother in law I haven't had a good night's sleep in 11 years. She said, yes you have! I said "you're right, we've gone on vacation without them."

Astros beat the Cubs 7-1. J.R. Richard got the win. Jose Cruz hit a HR.

Astros lost to the Cards 5-2. Dan Larson got the L.

The Astros didn't do anything special.

I clearly remember being in the hospital with my wife in labor watching Criag Biggio get his 3,000th hit. I tell my daughter that she realized she needed to wait until after midnight to actually be born so her day wasn't overshadowed.

Your daughter was in the womb thinking "Why did he try to go second on that?"
