Right. He's just oversimplifying it by focusing on record alone. In our last 60 or so games in '21, we were just a few games over .500 and then went 7-9 in the playoffs, losing the World Series. That meant nothing come '22 where we won 106 games and the WS. And we had even lost Correa to free agency and McCullers to injury.
Fun to look back at to try to explain what we're seeing now, but there weren't any indicators of such a monumental collapse. I think everyone had tempered expectations and knew the door was closing, but no one expected it to slam shut in our face.
Uh, it's just a tweet, not a dissertation.
The tweet just laid out our record over the last 10 months or so for those that may not realize, since we were a game away from the World Series last year, that we've been little more than a.500 ball club for a while. And he explicitly says this doesn't explain the horrendous start to this season. He's basically just making the point that digging out of this hole will require a level a baseball that we haven't played in a long time. But, again, hopefully they find the magic.
And finally, everything you say is true. But every tweet doesn't require regurgitating everything you say (and presumably a bunch of other stuff that could be said as well) to be valid. The record is what it is. You're free to add whatever context you want, but I don't get the "how dare he cite our record without also providing an in-depth analysis of the last 3 years" when we're talking about a tweet.
But this has probably gone on too long. We all want the Stros to win. Here's hoping it starts soon.
