My guy it was literally inches off the plate inside and barely made it over the fence

I'm convinced you're trolling and I gotta tip my cap you got me for a while

Yeah and it should have been inches off the plate low and outside instead

He gives up homers left and right. Nobody is getting fooled by his 97 mph fastball with no movement

And again… the home run to Correa was just a great hitter hitting an almost impossible pitch. Sometimes you have to tip your cap.

You'd think Astros fans would understand this with Altuve on our team

Truly bizarre nobody could be disappointed with our "elite" 95M closer

"Save conversions isn't the whole story" of a closer right after referencing ERA and ignoring all the advanced stats is sure a position.

Yeah I would care about a closer being able to convert games when we're not ahead by multiple runs, like in the playoffs.

He gives up a massive amount of homers
Hader on his career has given up a homer for about every 8 innings pitched (52 HR over 427 innings). Don't know if that is high or not, but seems like a pretty high number.

And not even taking into account that we had a 8(?) run lead at the beginning of the inning and he had to RUSH to get loose. He was thrown in a bad situation.

We won the freaking game for crying out loud

I wish you guys would stop arguing with the board guru. He's spoken. Now shut the **** up with your "different opinions" please.
Feels so good, feelin' good again.

He's been very very good since mid-April my friend. That ERA you keep pointing out is inflated because he had a rough start which is very common in relievers as they get ramped up. Pull up the numbers since 5/1 if you can

Out: A pitcher's advanced metrics and peripherals telling a very clear story that even most of his basic counting stats agree with.

In: A closer's ERA being more important than whether he closes games.

Elite troll job.

ERA isn't the whole story. It certainly works for your narrative but it's not the end all be all.

If he's not blowing saves IDGAF how many runs he gives up.
Agreed. I didn't like the signing but he's been solid. Not like he's bullpen Jose Abreu.

Yeah I brought that up a month or so ago. This team needs to be in the division lead by the end of August but I think that's realistic.

That is rough but a lot can angels between now and then. I expect the Rangers & Rays to have been sellers at the deadline. The White Sox on still going to be ass. The Royals aren't built for the long term.

This is getting overlooked big time.

With an 8 run lead in the 9th I imagine the closer starts to check out then all of a sudden he's got to get to get warm and come into a bases loaded situation facing the hottest hitter in the majors.

That's not easy.

He gave it up but at the end of the day he is paid for saving games and that's exactly what he did.

If we can manage 9-6 for that first 15 game stretch I think we will be fine and it's doable

2-1 vs TB
2-1 @ TEX
3-3 on the Boston/TB road trip
2-1 vs CWS

We're also a better team than a month ago. The teams in August probably won't want to play us, especially if we have multiple starters plus Tucker back.

Astros hierarchy of reported injury:

1. "Scheduled day off" = out 3-5 days
2. "Discomfort" = out 2-4 weeks
3. "Contusion, Neck Pain or the use of the word Gimpy" = out 1-3 months
4. "Bruise" = out 3+ months
5. "Mild Strain" = out 6-12 months, likely Tommy John surgery
6. "Tweaked it" = out 1 to 2 years on rehab
7. "Couldn't move it/put any weight on it" = retiring from baseball

What's day-to-day... 6 weeks?

Nah nothing new.

And yeah, I don't know what inspired that remark either. Not the first time. Sorry if I'm coming across as an ass again. Not my intention- just debating like several others are.

Day to day is out for at least 2 weeks but also available off the bench if needed.

I see us going 16-12. But hopefully better with Tucker back in the lineup.

In my opinion, the way they are playing currently feels like their typical dominate self and I have zero lack of confidence they can beat all of those teams.

Astros are walking too much of a tightrope right now for me to worry about the dog days of August. We had enough to deal with already; now teams can't not hit our players. I've been critical of Espada at times, but he's had to navigate a rough road often. That doesn't even include working for Crane.

As for Hader, besides giving up some homers he's mostly balled out. Not to mention putting to bed all the stuff about only pitching one inning. He's earning his paycheck.

Pressly has quietly turned it around as well. We're gonna need him down the stretch as much as anyone.

Altuve out? Dubon performs his best taking over for Altuve. See beginning of last season.

But lucky for us, Grae Kessinger is available.
“Give it hell Heinekandle, I’m enjoying it.”
- Farmer @ Johnsongrass, TX

“No secure borders, no alpha military, no energy independence, no leadership and most of all no mean tweets - this is the worst trade I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. ***Put that quote in your quote/signature section HeinendKandle*** LOL!”
- also Farmer @ Johnsongrass, TX (obviously in a worse mood)
