Looks like Cole Winn gets the start today at 2:05.
I think it was Sandler on The Fan this weekend who responded when asked what Cole Winn has to do... He said Cole has to prove to himself that he can pitch at the MLB level. Sounded like the old "mental" aspect. They indicated you'd know if he got ahead of hitters early, it was a good sign regardless of results.

Winn walked the leadoff batter; next batter has a single... So I am going with not a good sign so far, but I don't have time to keep watching the game updates right now.
After recording two outs and a single to RF, Cole Winn has hit his pitch limit.

Excited to see what Church can bring to this bullpen this year. Another good outing from him. Also, Crim may play his way into the DH/ backup 1B role. He's off to a good start this spring.

Apparently Zach DeLoach is with CWS as well.
I agree with most of this, but I think you're incorrect as to who the 1st call up would be. Owen White is on the 40, I think he would get the 1st shot before you start trying to open up a slot for one of the other guys. IMO Urena & Sampson are arms you turn to if White or Bradford flame out. It's a pretty tight 40 man roster, I think they'll try to keep the status quo for as long as possibe.DallasAg 94 said:
Taking inventory of our Starting Pitching options for 2024.
I think we'll start seeing more separation next week, so all of this is just to familiarize with what we're working with.
24 P on the 40. 13/14 NRI Ps
13 Max on Active 26
SP (4 of 5 set):
LH: Heaney (32)
RH: Eovaldi (33), Dunning (28), Gray (31)
Hopeful SP (1 of 5):
LH: Bradford (25)
RH: Winn (23), Zak Kent (25), White (23)
NRI:
LH: -
RH: Leiter (23-SP), Urena (32-SP-MLB), Adrian Sampson (32-SP-MLB)
IL (3): Mahle (29), Scherzer (39), deGrom (35)
Some of my opinions. Bradford is the only real option for #5. Urena and Sampson have MLB experience, but if you're going to invest in a player, Bradford is a better option. Urena and Sampson could find themselves as insurance options sent to AAA that could be called upon as fill-ins. Sampson was previously with the Rangers, so he may have a self-interest to stick with the Rangers.
Winn, Kent, White, and Leiter will likely be at AAA and a stack-ranking of them will sort itself out during ST. Any call-up necessary in the 1st month will go to Urena or Sampson. After than, I'd expect a cycle through WKWL. Leiter is not on the 40, but moving any of the IL guys to the 60 will open up a spot keeping him as an option.

Idk how many people on here play MLB The Show, but I can't tell you how disappointed I was when Vlady Jr got the cover over Bombi lol
Quote:
From May 1 until the trades for Scherzer and Montgomery on the final days of July, the Rangers had to play roughly from Game 28 until Game 107 of the season. 79 games and pretty much half of the season if we stretch it out until Montgomery and Scherzer actually pitch on Aug. 3.
During that stretch, they went from 17-11 to 62-46 for a record of 45-35 without DeGrom, Montgomery, and Scherzer at all. Heck, they even had to do without Eovaldi by mid July. They were literally running on fumes, but it still was working.

Meh. Don't need Bombi to be cursed this season.

Twas not a good outing. I think the Rangers need to cut bait and move him sooner than later.
Edit to add: at least he didn't walk anyone, I guess?
