A lot of that came from frustrations about the leadership and lack there of. Dude wanted out and you can tell.

I guess it depends on what your view of the Brewers is.

On this board I've seen it two ways:

1) His post-season success is terrible, therefore he's overrated.
2) The Brewers probably shouldn't even be in the post-season, so he's got them playing above their head and getting the most out of them.

I fall in camp #2, so I see why he's a hot name. However, I don't think he's actually worth $8M/year.

I've said he would better that the other re-tread dinosaurs that have been rumored, but IMO Espada would be the best choice, mainly because he's been here and the players really like him.

I don't even think managers have that much impact over 162 unless they're outliers like Dusty who intentionally kneecap the team. I feel like as long as someone listens to the FO, has the clubhouse's confidence, and has some decent sense as far as managing pitching, that's enough.

That salary for a manager is absolutely insane.

The Astros are a proven commodity and have continued their success through three GMs and two managers. Continued continuity would be my top focus. It really shouldn't be that hard to manage the Astros. Dusty made it hard and still won a lot of games.

I heartily disagree.

Buck Showalter has had extremely talented teams and they have all ended in disaster.

Bochy is a great example of a manager helping to directly change the direction of a team with the Rangers this year. Yes, they moves they made at the deadline for pitching were awesome, he had that team balling up to the deadline.

Just two off the top of my head.

Great managers don't get bounced out of the playoffs early as often as he has. Since 2018 they've consistently had a top 8-10 type of team and only have one division series that even went 5 games to show for it including not even making the playoffs last year.

I'm not a Brew Crew fan, but my sister in law is from Wisconsin and all her dad and brothers talk about is the damn Brewers and Packers.
