I'm not as impressed as others with his track record of under performing in the playoffs and his management tendencies so far. Regardless of his baseball mind. He has upside with our roster, but so does anyone else (see Dusty despite himself). He could also do really great here with a fresh start and more experience, but I don't see him as a sure thing.Ag_07 said:
Counsell is the better candidate
This seems really quick to be making a decision. Has anyone even interviewed and offered him?
All I recall seeing is that certain teams are interested and he's a candidate at various places.
I'd rather Espada who's already been managing quite a bit behind the scenes, is well respected by the clubhouse, and impressed in the 2 innings Dusty was thrown out. Then risking upsetting the team chemistry for "name" that doesn't have a wow factor of success. He already has a working relationship with the team, staff, and front office. There's no honeymoon period and it also helps build on our Latin American core.
