Padres decline Michael Wacha $32M, 2-year option @dennistlin 1st

That would be a good option for us.Farmer1906 said:Padres decline Michael Wacha $32M, 2-year option @dennistlin 1st

This is mildly surprising. He played his way into a position where I expected it to be picked up. Now he can exercise a much cheaper player option or hit the open market.

In MLB the franchise mode I offloaded Abreu + Montero for some low level prospects and signed Pete Alonso + Josh Hader
It's possible

I disagree. Overtime people will forget and just see 4 ALCS, 2 WS, and 1 Title.

That's the only thing he can hit.

How much do yall believe from the NYPost article about the Rangers and Dodgers being the preferred destination of Shohei?
iBrad said:
The Rangers already committed five years to Degrom, who hasn't been able to stay healthy the past four years. Do they do the same for a guy that just had his second UCL surgery and won't pitch at all next season. If evaluating Ohtani strictly as a hitter, is he worth what it will cost to land him?
Giants desperately need some juice but they're similar to us in not wanting to give out mega length deals. Dodgers have to be the leader right now.irish pete ag06 said:
I got my money on the Giants for Ohtani.

I'd be really happy with a one-year deal for Wacha. That's a good insurance policy for when LMJ goes down in spring training again.Farmer1906 said:Padres decline Michael Wacha $32M, 2-year option @dennistlin 1st

Wacha isn't really a high spin guy. Kind of goes against the mold of what the stros have looked for last few years.
Not saying he wouldn't be a solid back end piece but just different than what they usually target.

Also- sorry for the late response on the Robert/Cease talk.
But that's nothing new. They've been interested in both of those guys for a while and had serious discussions on both at the deadline. It doesn't surprise me if there's still interest but I don't think we have what it takes to swing that deal. I'm sure we'll keep trying though.
#Astros prospect A.J. Blubaugh was named to the American League Fall Stars team. He has a 2.45 ERA and 15 strikeouts to four walks in 11 relief innings in the Arizona Fall League.

Not sure I like this news getting out there. If it's not Espada, then doesn't that neuter Brown?

Was told last night there's about an "80% chance" Espada is going to be the guy. This has been my hunch as well based off everything else I've been told.
