Right-handed starter Tyler Mahle and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a two-year, $22 million contract, sources told ESPN. Mahle underwent Tommy John surgery in May and should return this season, and he can earn another $5 million in performance bonuses based on IP in 2025.

This feels more like a 2025 signing. Good 2024 production is probably gravy.
They are now paying 6 different starting pitchers over 10 M AAV in 2024. Yet they don't have a top of the line rotation at all. This is what happens when you don't develop pitchers.
Their payroll is now about 4-5 M from the luxury tax.
They are basically paying 22 mil for a season plus. That's a ton. He's got the same chance of contributing in 24 that Big Luis does. That TJ was May too.
