I thought ump was pretty fair tonight we'll see what the grade comes out at, but it's laughable people are complaining after the 10-2 screw up at our expense Saturday night
Nobody intelligent is complaining. Game 2 was one of the worst screw jobs I've ever seen by an umpire.

Tonight was a huge win with the uphill battle ahead. I'm assuming Scherzer and Garcia are both done. Let's find a way to scratch out two more wins just like we've done all year! We have the horses

I took a look at the 2011 composite box score and saw that SL had a big advantage there even though the series went 7 games. So far, Arizona has a slight advantage in the 9 inning composite (3 innings vs. 2; the rest tied) but in those 3 innings, they've skunked the Rangers. I've ignored the Game 1 extras.

I don't know if this means anything and obviously, it is skewed heavily toward Game 2, but could be something to keep an eye on as the Series progresses if the Rangers don't win tomorrow.

Overthinking?

Yes.

All that tells you is that one game got away from the Rangers and at some point, they basically decided to concede the game and play for the next one. Which they did, and won. Hence, a couple innings look really bad on the box scores but the Rangers hold a 2-1 lead. Remember, in 2011, the Cardinals had that one game where Pujols hit like 3 HR and the Cardinals won 16-7.

In a 7-game series, you need to win 4. How you do that is whatever. Things like Run Differential and Pythagorean Win/Loss work better over the course of a 162-game season (and even then it isn't perfect). But the World Series isn't a 162-game season.

Heck, look at the ALCS: The Rangers had won 2-0 and 5-4. Then the Astros won 8-5 and 10-3. At that point, the Astros held a +7 run differential. The result? The Rangers won 2 of the next 3 (which wouldn't have even gone to a game 7 had Leclerc not had his outing in game 5) where the Rangers lost by 1 and then won a pair of games by 7 each.

All that to say... Enjoy the next few games for what they are.

Indeed. It's a glorious salt laden diatribe over there.

What a topsy-turvy series this has already been. For as much as this series has been played to Arizona's strengths, they surprisingly find themselves in a near must-win situation in Game 4. The Rangers top pitchers await them in Games 5 & 6.

If Texas can find a way to sneak out a W in what is likely to be a high-scoring affair, John Smoltz might have an aneurysm.

I've seen they are calling it "side tightness," which normally I would say is immediately an oblique and not good, but when he swung he reached for him waste and on the side, so I would say side tightness is pretty accurate. We'll know quickly because they have to call up bodies.

Man if we win this things without our best hitter and pitcher we deserve all the respect in the world. Smoltz probably wouldn't bring it up and just talk about how amazing Arizona is.

As someone who lives in the Houston area, some of y'all sound like spewston fans complaining about Smoltzy…

Y'all are hearing what you want to hear…he sounds pretty fair to me, honestly…

Regardless, who gives a **** what he says? Let's worry about what's taking place on the field…

I have never understood TV announcer vitriol…it has zero impact on what's happening on the field…

Spewston fans *****ed and moaned about Smoltzy being "anti-Astros" all WS last year…let it go…

I have a feeling on Adolis that best case is that it's a very minor strain and he'll be back by game 6. If it's worst case then at least he got through most of the playoffs for us.

If that's the case then it's time for Jankowski and Grossman to get in there and work the AB and become a nuisance to the DBack pitchers like Alek Thomas and Carroll. Not be that caliber necessarily but be pesky and work the count and put pressure on them defensively in Jankowski's case.

Missing Adolis is big, but we are built to lose someone like Adolis. Do it by committee. Jankowski and Grossman won't give you the power but they can be used to bring some pressure on the DBacks

I have watch a ton of baseball in my life and I just don't see Adolis playing today or tomorrow. What does that mean going forward? I'd bet Grossman gets the start with Jankowski ready to run late or come in for defense.

I bet lineup goes

Semien (R)
Seager (L)
Carter (L)
Grossman (S)
Garver (R)

then usual suspects 5-9.

Every fan base in every sport does these things:

Complain about any personality/announcer that doesn't outright support their team.

Complain about how the refs always have it out for them.

Complain about how the refs/league unfairly work to protect "that other team".

Accuse their rivals fan base (or whoever has had a measure of success) of being pretentious, entitled, and whiney.

Complain about what needs to change at their stadium, and also complain about what has changed at their stadium.

To say blue bailed the Rangers out is just focusing on the 3-1 pitch and not even acknowledging the 1-0 pitch that was obviously a strike.

Flip Carter and Grossman and you probably have it. Bochy will avoid having two lefty's in a row (Arizona has 3 LHP in the pen).

Garver is also a Righty, not switch.

I think they give Garcia a day or two to see how he recovers, if it's just not going to happen then they will replace him on the roster. Once you replace somebody, they are done for the series.

Huge win in game 3. But who are the starting pitchers game 4?

I was thinking with the pitching matchup Rangers would likely drop game 3, so huge win,

But who is left to pitch game 4?
Looks like Heaney goes for Texas and Mantiply for Az.

Heaney (LHP) was a SP for us most of the season... Close to 150 IP. He moved to the BP once we got to the later part of the season.
Mantiply was a BP guy for Az.

Behind Heaney, we have Dunning (RHP), another guy that was a SP for us.

We should be able to get 3+/- IP from each of them... and if either faulters, we have Bradford(LHP) behind them. He is a SP, that moved to the BP early in the season. Minor League call-up when we had injury issues throughout the season. Bradford has been great in the Post-Season.

Yeah, it was an obvious makekup call from the earlier missed pitch to "even things out". I know that doesn't placate the D'Back fans (or the Astro fans... lol), but it's pretty obvious.

Agreed. Those guys are all actors. They each have a role to play in that broadcast.

It's like the Ags who get worked up over someone on game day not liking the Ags. Who cares?

While that's true the psychology of each Miss is very different. Getting the 3-1 call and forcing him to have to continue the AB when he thought it was over is very different than starting out 0-1.

Blue was terrible all night and not because he was missing calls but because he was so inconsistent with it.

I would agree here 1000%. Mantiply, one of the only lefties they have that can pitch more than an inning, is on the hill for them tonight. Bochy will want to avoid having Consecutive lefties back-to-back. The thing I wonder is how they are going to handle the outfield defense. We all know Grossman is flat out bad on defense, so how do you go about that. Do you really want him to play out there for nine innings? I sure don't; but, he's the best option we have for a replacement of Adolis at this very moment.

I personally would really think about having Garver catch and Grossman DH, then put Jankowski in the outfield.

I think they are going to use Mantiply as an opener. He's pitched fewer than an inning per game in the postseason. Then they'll have to go deep into their pen. They may use 7 or 8 pitchers tonight. Only a handful are decent arms. We need to be patient and strike when the iron is hot.

On the flipside, Heaney could give us 4 to 6 solid innings with Dunning and Bradford eating up the rest. Obviously, we won't know which Heaney we get until the 1st inning.

That's possible, but depends on what he hurt and how badly as to whether he can try to push through it or not.

I mistyped Garver as switch. Dumb me but, part of me thinks Evan Will still hit behind Seager.
