They definitely need to be more patient at the plate. It worked against Verlander because he was throwing right down the middle of the plate.

Well Jung was in a funk and exploded last night. These guys are due. The Astros have elite tier pitching and we have scored 5+ in two different games. If you are worried about our bats then should the Astros be even more worried about theirs since 5 runs have came from a rehab start?

I just hope every time Yordan comes up the bases are empty with 2 outs. Walk his slow ass every time!

We scored 5 on Framber, who is known to really suck at times but could very well come back and throw 5 scoreless in Game 6. And the 5 last night, 4 came from one batter. It wasn't like we were hitting it up and down the lineup. It was Lowe and Jung. That's it.

I'm not all doom and gloom but there is some concern there.

Semien has a few hits but hasn't done near enough when called upon. Leody has set the table for him multiple times and he's done nothing with it. Not moved him over with less than two outs or driven him in. Seager has more pop ups I. This series than he had walks in the LDS it seems. Garcia has been "ok" but nothing to be happy about. Top of the lineup needs to break out in a big way tonight.

Need Heaney/Dunning to shove tonight

Win tonight, then it will be all hands on deck with Monty starting Friday to close it out

I want to see this so badly. If we have a chance to close this thing out with Monty on the bump, go all in.

Right. It works great when the pitcher isn't painting. And it worked much if the year. And I feel dumb criticizing our offense who carried us much of the year. But there's a time to tone it back and see some pitches.

It's been a year long thing for Semien. He made a ton of outs this year in heavy hitter counts. If a 2-0/3-1 pitch is in the zone you can bank on him swinging.

I'm as doom and gloom as they come, and anyone could see from the first pitch that nobody on the planet was going to hit Javier last night. And even after rusty arms gave up a seemingly insurmountable lead, we still made it interesting. So I'm optimistic that we can still get one more in Arlington.

Now, the counter to that is baseball is a very streaky game and who knows if last night was all it took for Houston to steal momentum and go on a tear, but I'm not panicking just yet.

I don't like them as much as anyone else, but you absolutely have to give credit where it's due. They've built an incredible system that consistently churns out great players. It amazes me how everyone in their lineup top to bottom (minus Maldy) can make such good contact every time they swing the bat. It's like every time they hit the ball it's a damn frozen rope to the outfield wall.

I see the concern and I get that. But there is no way anyone here should have reasonably expected for us to play the Astros in the ALCS and have no concern. It's baseball. All those things you pointed out are valid but I can play this same game with Houston. My point is, we shouldn't feel down after scoring 5 against Javier who is dominating this postseason and against one of the best bullpens in the league. Doesn't matter how the runs come. Houston scored big last night vs rehab starters and the bottom of their lineup did big damage which is not something they usually do but they still scored the runs. At a minimum let's wait till after tonight to see how things go.

I'm right there with you. Playoff baseball, gotta love it!!! Just glad we are here to have these discussions and high blood pressure again.

Heaney is capable of dominance. We will need that tonight. Great to see Lowe and Jung swinging better. That makes a solid 7-9. Our top two guys are due. If Semien and Seager get it going, we have a shot at beating a really talented team.

Am I wrong in hoping that ball to the foot yesterday has left a golf ball size knot on his foot today?

Everybody I know who's gone have gone to Texas Live as soon as they could and hung out before heading into GLF.

Maybe if the roof is open, it won't be as loud, then it won't feel like an away game for them, they'll think they're playing at home, then they lose!

Did staff clean up a bunch of posts? I left one about Yordan/David Ortiz and it vanished.

Probably going with upper level seats, any recs?

I like how we've reached a point where dangling whether or not it will be open air or not is a thing.

Chuck Morgan's intro of it being a beautiful night at the ballpark when you can't actually feel the weather is stupid af.

On one hand, cooler temps might mean the ball doesn't carry as far.

On the otherhand, when those doors behind home plate open, the breeze that comes through there might have been just enough to lift some of those balls into HRs.

Hey... let's make sure those doors are closed during Astros ABs.

So, should we not say Good Morning or Good Evening when we are inside?!

No idea, but just get there early and have a few beverages at Texas Live or have a few in the parking lot. You don't want to miss the start of the game waiting in line. Mr. Gigem can maybe give you an idea, but it would also depend on where you are parking.

What is the deciding factor? Humidity? I read something about they were worried about people slipping on the concourse the other day if the roof was open due to humidity.

I saw that too. If they built a retractable roof stadium in Texas without accounting for how the humidity affects walking surfaces is that not a major oversight?

Agreed. Completely ridiculous if that is actually a factor.

But, the roof is open tonight which I love.

Love the new park, but last night reinforced Rangers desperately need to rethink the post-game exit strategy.

Bottleneck at Texas live main exit every single time.

We're going to start looking for one - just giving some helpful criticism that if every major game hundreds of people are bottlenecked at an exit and complaining then maybe some additional signage or ushering is prudent.

astros fan here coming to ask a question. no disrespect here....Watching the game last night it seemed a ton of the balls carried to the warning track and weak fly balls carried a ton for both teams. Does the new ballpark give up a lot of homers? Does the field have vents up top that could have an effect on the ball in the air?

That's what happens when you aren't playing on a peewee field.
