The series has taken my mind off of Aggie football, but I am still frustrated by the "officiating".
Thinking about the base umpire standing right there by second base and calling something he NEVER saw with Altuve. He should be removed from the crew for incompetence.
Thank goodness replay is not being run in B'ham.

Heard a theory on The Ticket this morning…. where the ball was hit in that park, that umpire probably had the best view of the action. Maybe the third base umpire could see it, but no way the ump down the left field line could have seen it.

More than a theory. Pretty sure Semien said as much in the postgame last night. After the appeal, he asked the ump and he said he was looking at the ball.
Ump told Semien he was watching the ball. Semien said they talked about that in Spring Training and it's something he watches for since the umps are usually looking at the ball not the runner.

Grossman back in the 3 spot and no Carter for game 2. I know it's unconventional but I just don't see how you can sit Carter right now.

Bochy knows how to coach in the playoffs, and has won 3 world series, but I don't like sitting Carter.

Agreed. With what I just said, someone posted earlier that houston has no lefties in the bullpen, so I'd imagine if the rangers can get to Valdez and get to the pen early then Carter could make an appearance.
Might be famous last words, but I expect today to be another low scoring game. We really need Eovaldi to thrown 6 innings.
I think it's simple to me. Framber will give free passes. Either we cash in with runners on and blow it open or we don't and it's a grind it out game like yesterday.
Also this team has really cut down on chasing pitches outside the zone since playoffs began. That should bode well against Framber who can get erratic. It's kind of why I don't like Carter being out of the lineup. He works counts and get on even if he's 1/15 vs lefties.

The ump next to Semien might have been watching the ball. The first base ump is supposed to slide behind and get the simultaneous view and get the timing of catch/tag. He could have easily made the out call.cmiller00 said:

I appreciate the concern, friend, but I think you mistake my meaning. Simply put, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Skipping the bag was a shortcut. I would never say anything derogatory about Altuve. Players of his stature are in short supply.
