Yeah, the whole "doesnt want to take any chances" implies the bullpen has proven themselves to be a better option than the starter.
"not taking a chance" throws a 4 pitch walk.

I just don't get it. I understand the analytics about 3rd time through the lineup is potential trouble and all of that.
But you know what isn't potential trouble? Our bullpen. It's proven trouble.
I'll take potential trouble over proven trouble.
