Again... these are your options:

Yerry Rodriguez (25) - 7.90 ERA @ MLB
Zak Kent (25)
OWhite (23) - 11.25 ERA @MLB
Jonathan Hernandez (26) - 6.45 ERA @ MLB
Grant Anderson (26) - 5.05 ERA @ MLB
Cole Winn (23) - 11.25 ERA @MLB
Speas (25) - 13.50 ERA @ MLB

Don't really care about minor league ERA. They don't tell the whole story half the time. What was Bradfords era in his brief stint he got sent back down? All I know is right now, we have next to no one we can trust in the major league pen. Might as well try and get some new blood and see if one or two can get hot.

Those are their ERA at the MAJOR league level this season.

Personally, I could care less about the 40. It's go time and we don't need to be making decisions based off that. This team's window is
open. I'd hope they didn't make all these trades and signings to stick with the current 40 just cuz.

Ok? So does that mean they will be the same pitcher when being called back up?

So, your answer is to release a player currently on the 40, in order to add someone to the 40 and bring them up for the 1st time to the MLB level to handle the pressure of a pennant race in September?

Which minor leaguer do you suggest?

Yes there are a few on the 40 that are absolutely worthless. If we don't do something to address the pen then this season is all for not.

All would be worth a look, if we weren't in a pennant race.

White for all intents is a SP.

Neither Church nor Lee are on the 40.
Church has a 5.7 BB9 this season in AAA.
Lee has a 4.0 BB9 this season combined in AA and AAA.

Church is likely added to the 40, after this season.

Also keep in mind, to be available for the postseason a player had to be on the 40 man roster on Setember 1.

And then when we call up the guys not on the 40, and make the postseason, who is in the bullpen? Because if they're not on the 40 they aren't pitching in October.

I get that. Trust me, I want better RP.

My concern is burning through young pitchers and not only losing this season, but losing 5+ more minor league pitchers putting them in situations they aren't ready.

It was terrible that Jonathan Hernandez finally got the call back up after 2 months in the minors. Gets inserted in the B13th against Minnesota, starts the Inning with a guy on 2nd. Nobody wants a P just called up to be in that situation.

Truth is, before today, we were 3-12 in our last 15, with 4 of those losses in extra innings.

Most of what we should expect the rest of the way is high leverage situations.

Good lord, I just saw the replay of Adolis walking it off, and that looked like an Everest sized mountain being lifted off of him.

Went after a double in the gap, and lost his footing at the track. Slipped awkwardly and looked like he tweaked his back but I think he's ok.

Jackson Holliday (MLB #1 overall prospect) is also being promoted to AAA. He's 19 and this is his first full season in the minors. He's played at every level of their system this year.
