Did I hear that right that Scherzer hasn't given up more than 4 in any game this year?
Isn't ERA calculated based on 9 innings?Proposition Joe said:PatriotAg02 said:

He has a 4+ ERA, so that would be... difficult.

But if he gave up 4 runs in 6 innings, that's an ERA of 6. The more innings pitched, the larger the denominator and the longer it takes to bring it down.Proposition Joe said:
Yes, but if he has a 4+ era and no games of 5 or more runs then it would mean he averaged like 5 innings a start.

Tony Beasley sucks
You have that backwards. It's 1 run per every 2.23 innings pitched.dvldog said:
Just looked it up to avoid actually working.
48 earned runs in 107.2 innings pitched this year (before today).
Average of 2.23 runs per actual inning pitched, but an ERA of 4.02.
(Sorry for any derail...)
It seems like this year his errors have been glaring. Haven't noticed it the past few years as much. (Probably cause he didn't have that many times to send runners)Tksymm7 said:

Only if you are cherry-picking stats.Proposition Joe said:
Important to remember while he is a big name, he's also a 4+ ERA pitcher this year to date.

9*ER /innings pitched = era.
