Probably cause I haven't been able to watch many Rangers game with the whole Bally debacle, but it's starting to be apparent how unimpressive Dave Raymond and CJ Nitkowski are.

It's even more apparent when you see how spoiled we are with every other major sport in DFW.

STARS - Josh & Razor - Clearly the best in DFW and consistently seen nationally as top broadcast team in NHL

MAVS - Followill, Parker, and Skin - Very solid team probably higher in esteem nationally due to Followill

COWBOYS - Brad Sham & Babe Laufenburg - Good to great (especially Sham)

RANGERS - Eric Nadel - Hall of Famer


Dave Raymond and CJ are clearly the worst team. Hell, even FC Dallas had Followill calling games until very recently.

Josh Lewie was so great.

Trying to be positive, but it's a great thing there's only one game left before the trade deadline. We can hopefully go home, regroup, and get Seager back soon with maybe some new reinforcements.

I'd honestly be happy with a booth of CJ and Dave Murphy

I don't think CY makes a move for Scherzer if they know Eovaldi is likely out for the season.

I mean you might be right. I hope you're not. I know people ripped into me recently when I said we need to face some weaker teams. I said that right after the "Eovaldi was skipping his first start" news.

Padres just threw 3 aces in a row at us after we faced the Astros. Competition has been brutal lately at the same time as these injuries / problems.

Just an interesting tidbit-bit, but I had the chance to play with and against Jordan Hicks in high school. He's always thrown hard. I blocked a ball when he was pitching once with my cup and had to stop the game to gather myself. Never thought he'd be a 100+ guy though. The cardinals found something and went with it.

The AL is wide open this year. We aren't the only team struggling with SP. I know it feels that way, but there really isn't a $250M Yankee or BoSox giant to beat.

Toronto's Closer just got sent to the IL and LAAA just lost another OF to facial fracture. Tampa is in a freefall.

Houston's P has been dealing with health. Baltimore is probably the most even team and if they don't make a splash, they are beatable.

The field is wide open. We have soem pieces and in as good a spot as any.

I would actually take the position that CY doesn't make the move for Scherzer if he doesn't know he has the flexibility to make more moves.

Eovaldi situation is indirectly why I am bummed we gave up Acuna. I really think we need to pull a trade for a controllable TORP this offseason (now would be ideal, but much much more difficult to pull off). Without Acuna to co-headline a package, it gets a lot trickier.

Same……. If Eovaldi / heim were fully healthy, I'd be stoked about these moves. Now I'm just wondering if they will keep us afloat and if we can do it without giving up too much.

Why not?

Even if Eovaldi is out -- it's about to be August and we're 1 game up in the division and haven't sniffed the playoffs in 6 years... We're not punting this season.

So if we're trying to win but suddenly the roster looks a lot less potent, then what do you do? You go out and get guys that can help shore up the rotation this season but also can contribute to the rotation next season. Sherzer is the perfect guy for that.

deGrom will still be out. Odorizzi will be a FA. Perez will be a FA. Heaney potentially still be here (though if he goes over the 150IP mark his option increases to $20M and we will decline that).

No matter what, Scherzer will still have a place in this rotation next season, so we're able to check two things off the list with the trade - shore up this year AND next year.

All something like Eovaldi being out would really prevent the FO from likely doing is unloading the farm for a high end rental (Ohtani), as that really only takes you from average to good. Not good to great.
