Yes. I want 2-3 more arms. I don't want to have to burn the same 3-4 arms in close games. Or have to put a King or Barlow in a game that's still within reach just for them to make it out of reach.

Agreed. But over time we need to supplement at least one spot (maybe two) in the rotation with a low cost controllable starter. We need O. White and/or Leiter to step into a starter spot in the next year or two, which will help keep the payroll costs under control.Quote:
The CY signings have changed the way we need to go about our rotation.
Yeah, we aren't getting squat as far as trade value for either of those. I believe we are bringing Winn out of the pen exclusively here lately, and he's been pitching better. Maybe he is more cut out to be a reliever than a starter? Wasn't long ago that he was one of our better pitching prospects, but it's been a struggle ever since.Quote:
Guys like Spencer Howard, Cole Winn... change of scenery guys who just won't get there before they are chewing up the Serf years or Rule V. Problem is, some just don't have that much value.

1st exchange: That's what I'm thinking. Solid baseline that we now need to keep feeding from cheaper internally developed players. We shouldn't be signing FAs moving forward.KT 90 said:Agreed. Great to see Semien take that ball on the outside corner the other way.

Good thing Maldy is in there for that stellar defense.

I say that because it's true. I don't go on the Astros thread at all…
