I just don't like the idea of selling the future to be in the mix with 5-6 other teams to win big. I could see that being an option if it was clear as day that we are 1 sp away from almost a guaranteed ws win. No thanks in any other situation. Just my opinion.

When are you ever guaranteed a WS win? All you can do is position yourself the best you can. The top half of this roster (SP and lineup) are players in their prime. They're not going to be around when these prospects that may or may not pan out get here. The Rangers also have a glut of infield prospects that have nowhere to go. They have pieces they can move to improve their chances.

Also the Rangers don't have any prospects right now that are guaranteed to be superstars. Carter is the closest thing and he's dropped off lately.

Ain't nothing but a thing. Lose a road series at the best team in baseball, then lose 3 of 4 to the hot Angels. In two of those we were a pitch away from winning. It's not like they came in here and blasted us.

We outhit the angels in every game this series but one. I rarely complain about the umpires, but I was screaming at my tv all 4 games because of how bad some of the calls at home plate were. It seemed like everytime we got guys in base and hit a ball hard, it went right at an Angel fielder. When we did we get a big hit, it seemed like the bases were empty 95% of the time.

It seemed like all of the "crucial calls" went the angels way, all of the "borderline calls" went the angels way, and even some outlandish calls that a minor league or high school umpire would call correctly got missed by this crew. This crew rucking sucked. The umpire at first base tonight is a piece of ***** He called the worst game all at home plate tonight all year long in the first game of the series then called semien out after Semien got screwed by his butt buddy the whole time at the plate.

Yes the angels were hot and played well, but if we had a competent umpiring crew who could actually do the jobs that they're paid to do, I think we could've split or won 3/4. They hurt us that much.

I'm sticking with my expectations from the beginning of the season. Anything over .500 and we are on the right track. Make the playoffs and it's a good year. Win a playoff series and it's a great year. ALCS and beyond and I'll have no words. We've been playing insane to start the year and obviously I would love for that to continue all season long but If it doesn't no biggie. Front office will make some big moves this off-season.

Well at least the ASStros lost. Still have some cushion. This team will eventually snap out of it. Just need to hold until they do.

Can't trade Carter or acuna

I agree unless they can land you a TORP with years of control.

And before anyone says I'm conceding already that's how I go about all my teams in every sport. I set the expectations before the season starts and do not change them at all. Most people do it differently but for me this system works best.

The scientific term for this is BAS

Lost 6 out of 8. That's ****ing ugly. Need to wake the hell up. Everytime we got the bases loaded, it seemed like we swung at every pitch the pitcher threw and got ourselves out instead of waiting for a pitch to hit.

From a total pitching perspective I can definitely see where you are coming from and even get on board to some extent. I do believe Gray and Eovaldi are really good pitchers even though they have likely (slightly) overachieved to begin the season. They are likely ~3.00 ERA pitchers over a full season. So when you lose deGrom who was your guy you'd rely on and to be 2.50 or less, it's a huge loss. And we are bound to feel it over the course of a year.

But, the lineup is real, and that's what I think you have to do your best to take advantage of, because more times than not over the course of the season, you will get the production from them. They are a WS caliber lineup.

The Astro thread is melting down despite winning a series 2/3 against the nationals. I'd kill to win a damn series right now. Good lord that fan base is something else.

****ty umpires are hard for us to overcome. Good thing this crew won't qualify for the playoffs if we make it. They're blind as **** and won't make the grade.

Yep I think that's that. Time to use the mute function.

Yeah If I had to redo my expectations they would certainly be higher. But I always set my expectations before the season and never change them. That way at the end of the season it's pretty easy to see whether we exceeded or failed. Expectations were average coming in so for me anything better than that and I'm a happy fan.

In other words, no viable reason to eject Semien. Terrible umpire is terrible.

Semien getting ejected was right in front of me. Characterizing him as "calmly discussing" the K with the first base umpire was inaccurate.

He was very pissed and animated. Obviously, I have no idea what he said, but it sure looked like he was yelling "BALL FOUR - BALL FOUR" over and over again.

It is a long season. We are in a downward slump. An upward trend will begin soon. Maybe this weekend.
The ejections might be the motivation to break out of this.

A lot of bad luck this week, like the extra innings game where they hit potential game-winners hard right at someone. Haven't been playing well, but they also haven't been as bad as the record

Looking at ticket master there is a lot of availability. Sunday still a lot available but much more expensive.

Agree, but there are a lot of bats in that line up that have done really well against him over the course of his career (Merrifield, Chapman, Springer, Bichette). He'll need to bring his A game tonight.

Saturday and Sunday are SRO only at this point. If you want reserved seating, it's best to use secondary market
