Another loss. No reason to get pissed off. We are what we are this season. Look to next season. Fortunately our weaknesses are so glaring they should be easy to fix.

It is what it is guys. Monty is gutless for allowing bochy to take him out of the game at 95 pitches and Smith is worthless. Offense wont win many games scoring 2 runs against a minor league pitcher. We knew all this before the game started.

Why Boch continues to run Smith out there in these high leverage situations is just utterly mind-boggling. I mean literally go to ANYONE but him!!!!

The weaknesses (bullpen) were glaring this off-season, and we did nothing.
There absolutely is reason to be pissed off. We're squandering career years out of a bunch of offensive guys. With where we were in late July, the bare minimum should've been to get these guys some playoff experience. Even that is looking 50/50 at best.

Not just Montgomery. He has pulled pitchers after 80 pitches and 6 great innings at least 10-15 times this year only for the bullpen to make it interesting or blow it.
It's one thing if you are stretching out a pitcher or giving them rest after a long outing last game.... it's another to act like it's a long season to not let them finish what they started. That part I don't like. That has been the case in nearly all the early pulls.

Trying to keep this in perspective that this has been a really good season. Ideally it could have been even better. Nearly every player is running on fumes at this point and there's nothing we can do to fix it. They players we have simply aren't good enough to win games in August and September. I don't think we need a roster overhaul.
This isn't on Bochy. It's a collective failure of the entire team and franchise. But we are close and I hope we can bring up young pitchers next season to get us over the hump. Not everybody needs to be a starter. A couple of these starters need to buy into a bullpen role if we want to make a playoff run next year.
We need to find out why pitchers leave the organization and improve their performance at their next team. We've had some position players come here and do that, but never a pitcher. The pitchers we bring in usually get hurt or suck.
That's so damn bad its almost impressive.JWinTX said:

Ragans went 6.0 IP/5ER in his last GS. Still has a good ERA, but let's see what happens next year.
Clase has been great for Cleveland, but his ERA this season is 3.01 (age 25). Tons of Saves for sure. However, he has served an 80G suspension for PEDs.

Verlander was at 3.15 with the NYM and is throwing 3.93 with Houston.
We brought in guys like Lynn and Lytle and Gibson and saw them do well.
It's just baseball.
