I don't think $50M would cover both Verlander and Scherzer, but if NYM are paying and we're giving up Walcott...

2023 just got boldly fascinating.

I'd get the Dodgers on Line 1 for either Heaney or Perez.

I did see where someone had suggested Walcott's pull was disciplinary... hoping that is the case.

Will be interesting to see how you manage egos of guys that want to be starters, but Dunning shifting back to the pen would be a huge upgrade to our pen.

Not thrilled with Scherzer. But if we ended up not giving up much then I'll be happy with it. Would be nice if we could get Raley too.

At a minimum, it should set the expectation that Dunning is in the BP for the playoffs, if there was any doubt.

I've said this repeatedly, it should make Perez tradable. Most of you may not think he would bring value, but there are 3-4 teams right now that desperately need SP. Not ToTR SP... but guys who can get them to the end of the season.

Dodgers are one of those. Tampa is another. You can add Cincy to that list.

With no additions, your playoff rotation becomes:

Eovaldi, Scherzer, Gray, Heaney (L)

Heaney over Dunning because he is Lefty.

We have 3 LH RP - Burke, Chapman, and Will Smith.

I think Dunning knows where he is.

EG's article also said that Maddux was Max's pitching coach with Washington, so maybe he thinks there's something he's seen and can fix (or maybe pushing for MS over JV)?

He just had a good start yesterday (or day before?), so may not need to fix much. Think it was 7 IP, 1 Run.

Definitely need a bullpen arm as well. Dunning would help if he shifts to the pen, but probably need another.

Angels lost to the Jays.

They are now 4.5 GB Houston. Statistically behind Seattle.

Ohtani was able to make it through his 5 AB with 2BB and a HBP. I can't see teams pitching to him the rest of the way.

Should have said, Sagasse is a perfect trade candidate but I would really hate to give up Acuña. Really hope there's another player or a bunch of salary being held back by the Mets.

Any chance it's also contingent upon Scherzer agreeing to not opt out of next year?
