Perez was pretty balanced in 2022.

2023 is a different story:
Home: 4GS - 1.40 ERA, 25.1 IP, 21 K, 5BB
Away: 8GS - 5.53 ERA, 42.1 IP, 28K, 2 BB

And I don't think that includes today.

Acuna, Foscue, Zavala/Josh Smith + Cody Bradford is a really enticing haul that we could for sure afford to give up. Bet that could net a good SP + RP combo that would hopefully be enough to get us down the stretch.

Not too worried about today. Perez would never face the Rays in a playoff series and the bats are hitting mcclanahan well. The Rays approached this series like a playoff by reordering their rotation to give us gave their 1/2, meanwhile they faced our 5, 1, 4.

If Perez pitches well at home against Toronto on Friday... I'm bumping him from the road start @ Chicago and going with him for home starts against Detroit and Houston... and then rest.

I agree that I'm not that worried. Certainly not ready to panic. This is the time to find out what you have and even if Martin is just an Innings Eater from here, I think he can protect the bullpen.

Martin has always been a "pitch-to-contact" pitcher who benefits from a good defense. The changes in "shift" may be having an impact, as well.

Eovaldi and Gray have shown a solid 1-2.
