I remember Bradford from Baylor as a guy with average stuff who changes speeds and locations to get guys out. Rangers scouting report.

Quote:
A classic crafty left-hander, Bradford has a four-seam fastball that sits at 89-92 mph and touches 95, but generated a 27 percent swing-and-miss rate last year because of command and carry at the top of the zone. It pairs well with a plus low-80s changeup that he works closer to the knees with some fade and sink. The Rangers had him scrap the soft curveball he used in college to go with a low-80s slider, but the slider got hammered in 2022 and he shifted to a more promising mid-80s cutter down the stretch.

I don't love starting his clock for a "spot start" much less against ATL. Hopefully he can do well enough to slide Dunning back to the pen to help with stability, and stay in the bigs.

Just now skimming through yesterday's Scott Lucas email, and found this nugget interesting:

Justin Foscue debuted at first base as a professional. He was busy, recording ten putouts and three assists, inclusive of involvement of three double plays. This isn't a surprise. Even in college, Foscue was a bat-first infielder. He spent more time at third in school, more at second in the pros, but has yet to definitely attach himself to either. First base is a possibility, either as a full-time position if he hits well enough or part of a flex if he doesn't. Keep in mind that Foscue is as likely of a trade chip as anyone in the organization.

Correct. Bullpen is the biggest weakness on this team, so if we can find a way to move Dunning back to the pen that would be great. He's been very consistent thus far this season, so that hip issue he pitched through last season may have really affected him, as he looks much improved this season.

Him playing first or at the very least adding it to his resume should help his value. Teams will see the bat and want it on the field, and being able to play first increases his ability to get on the field in some capacity.

I think I'm the only person I've talked to wanting him to get time at 1B. I think that's his best shot outside of a full time DH to get playing time.
