You're not alone, just know that. As someone with lifelong issues with cycles of depression, I relate pretty hard to investing more emotional energy in the hope of winning than I normally would due to not having much to be excited about otherwise at certain times.

Absolutely relate to this. It's me, and you are right, you aren't alone. Many with the same issues.

He won't but yep. Chances Diaz gets the start at C?
In a game 7?

Absolutely none. And we'll thank him for it later.

So I guess we are trading Diaz and runs for Maldys pitcher whispering.

Prior to August 13th loss to the Angels, the Astros were 33-25 at home (57%). Since, they are 7-21 (25%). The Oakland A's won 32% of their games at home. There is no possible explanation for the Astros performance at home other than a voodoo curse.
I imagine some very obvious tendencies have shown up on film that opposing teams are taking advantage of and we are so down in the dumps we aren't adjusting.

For instance. The Garver oppo HR was such an enigma to me. I can't remember the last time someone took an outside pitch over the right field wall. It seems with a full team slump everyone is trying to get a cheapie into the Crawford Boxes. Other teams know/have seen this and have adjusted.

I really like the matchup of Javier vs the Rangers

They've had issues all series hitting the elevated FB and he's got one the best.

The only time we really have seemed to get bit is with breaking or off speed stuff.

El Reptil shows up and drags his nuts across their face while we get a couple timely hits with RISP. We don't pour it on but it's a close win for the defending champs!

He's actually been sober for a while now. The Astros had a condition in place with Bags that he wouldn't be welcomed back until he sobered up. He's been doing much better. He was in a really dark place for a while apparently. This is just based off what I've been told.

That's great to hear. I was not aware of the latest.

No chance. And based on how Javier has been with Maldy catching him lately, I don't want Diaz to catch over Maldy.
I agree with this ... However, if we fall behind by 2 or 3 runs by the 4th or 5th inning, we need to make the change earlier so Diaz gets 2-3 ABs instead of just the 1 AB. That change should happen IMO, but it absolutely will not. Should have happened last night
I'd love to know if Dana is bringing this up to Dusty and it's ignored or do they just think Maldy brings more intangibles, even after the starter is pulled?

It's pretty ridiculous because the supposed advantage of Maldy is when the starter goes through the order a 2nd or 3rd time Maldy is supposed to be the savant that knows what to call...that all goes out the window after the starter is pulled as it's rare for a reliever to go through a lineup more than once (unless it's long relief and that means we're in big trouble anyway).

Pretty sure Bochy had Bumgarner in those game 7s correct? I don't expect him to come out of the pen tonight.

Settle down.

Torchy's does that enough themselves. $6 for a taco should be a crime.

I told a buddy the same. Not going to happen and Pena has been great defensively... but we are basically giving the Rangers two outs at the end of the lineup, meanwhile their 8-9 can hit it out at any time.

I'd also bat Dubon 9th for when the order rolls over, and I'd move Yordan to 3rd. But easy for me to say.

I was at Karbach brewery yesterday, and they had a food truck there charging $17-$20 for a hot dog. didn't see anyone buy one, lol

I don't think player batting tendencies change that much on the road vs home. Dubon isn't all of a sudden working counts when he's on the road. The Astros were an 102-win team on the road this year, and averaged 5.7 runs per game, just behind the 5.8 rpg that the Braves averaged for the season.

There are supernatural forces at work here without question.

Agree with the previous poster. If we are down by 2 or more going into the 5-6th, Diaz needs to come in. I know there is virtually no way Dusty does that, but this is an elimination game and we're probably going to need to score 5+ win. Every AB is going to count in the late innings. Pitcher whispering be damned.

Wonder if they'll pitch to Yordan at all tonight.

If the O/U for total pitches that Yordan sees tonight was at 8.5 you taking the over or the under?

If the food truck guy is smart, he goes to Costco and drops $1.50 on each one and loads up the hot dog water with those savory meat sticks.

Better than a Dome Dog.

Haven't heard anything about an injury to Pena. I think he certainly has more pop than he's shown this year but also last year was a bit of an outlier.

Yeah, I was never as high on Pena as some appeared to be. He's absolutely a big league shortstop- but he's going to add a hell of a lot more with his glove than his bat.

The hit lines are interesting. More than half of the starting lineup has better odds to get a hit than Alvarez which makes me think intentional walks and pitch arounds are being factored in.

Did they change the batters eye this year? Honest question. I don't remember it being an issue in years past, but they could have changed it and I didn't notice.

What were our home/road splits last year and the previous? I don't remember struggling at home this much but could be off here as well.

I dont think the batter's eye has a huge impact outside of it maybe just getting in their heads once someone said something about it. They averaged 4.7 runs per game at home prior to their disastrous 7-21 current run. As was said earlier, Minute Maid hasn't been a great offensive park this year, but 4.7 rpg would still be in the top half of the league. They are averaging 3.7 runs per game since mid-August.

We had a year or two in there where it was discussed previously. I think it may have even been 2017 season but could have been later. Then we had a WS (2019 I think) where we didn't win a home game (no team won a home game and we lost the series because we had home field advantage).
