I figure they do it so they're more comfortable. If you're not 100% confident in speaking, doing a big time interview on national tv probably makes it tougher.

Aot of these guys can speak English but have a hard time understanding it. So just get a translator and make it easy for everyone.

My guess is if we'd gotten out of that inning with the lead, the scorer would have awarded the win to Brown...3 scoreless innings would have been impossible to overlook.

Altuve did an English interview recently . His English was just fine. These guys know English after all these years in the league. I think it's more about marketing to the Spanish speaking fans than anything

Maybe it's cause I live this situation. My wife is Venezuelan. Her parents speak English and have for a long, long time. But they still get embarrassed sometimes speaking English when they feel they don't have the grasp of what they really want to say. And that's with me. Their son in law. I can't imagine what a lot of these guys are feeling talking to the media.

Umm...Altuve does all his interviews in English. I've never once seen him use a translator.

But my God this is the dumbest conversation to have after this huge win.

Altuve has been doing English for years. He made it a point. Similarly Bregman made it a point to learn Spanish so he could become closer to his teammates.

Was the first one I had seen in English.

I knew Bregman had made it a point to learn Spanish. I also knew Altuve was very competent in English but had not seen him do an English interview until the past few mos.

Being able to communicate in English and being comfortable and confident enough to do an interview in English are two different things.

Altuve has been speaking English publicly for a long time. Believe it or not Yordan speaks English well also. Some guys (like Yordan) prefer an interpreter so nothing gets lost in translation. It's a lot of pressure speaking a new language in front of a camera.

English is a hard language to learn. I don't get the group of people who get triggered by them speaking Spanish.

I was listening in when this happened. Pulled up to the destination and waited in the car to hear the AB. I heard the hit through broadcast and Sparky's call and started punching my steering wheel going nuts. My buddy walks up and was like "Dude, you good?"

Such a great radio call.
