From what I've been told bullpen is the top priority but they want to add a veteran innings eater type to the rotation. I think this year proved how valuable having one of those guys can be.

That would make sense if you bump up Brantley.

Surprisingly calm. All the anger and vitriol the last two night have gone away and I am strangely at peace.

Well, I'm not there yet. I reserve the right to change my mind if we get a full on rebirth of POW POW FPTR fans on TexAgs if Arlington takes the AL Pennant.

Buuut

Verlander
Valdez
Javier
France
Urquidy
Brown
McCullers
Arrighetti

That is some depth.

Where's Luis?
An omission that I would never think Farmer would make.

I'm mad, hate stewing for 2 days on it … but that'll change if we win tomorrow. If we win tomorrow then I think we win the series.

Luis Garcia was the guy I was most excited about this season. Was super bummed for him.

We're in a funny position now.

We've seen this Rangers team go on bad skids multiple times this season.

So in order to get back in this thing we have to win the next 2 which could trigger a lot of stress in that Rangers dugout and things could snowball

Regardless though even if we come back up 3-2 I'm still not confident with our home record.

Astros need to increase their GOBIFOY to win.

I do agree, I think they're riding a high and when the dam breaks it'll break bad. You just have to give them that first loss and let it snowball.

But similar to what you said, I can see the Astros winning the next two but I'm far less confident about then also winning two of the next three with the last two at home.

I'm hoping this is the Dana FO influence because I think a lineup with Altuve 1, Brantley 2, Yordan 3, Breggy 4, Abreu 5 could RAKE big time with Tucker likely 6 and Diaz/Chas/Pena at the bottom for hopefully some unexpected punch.

The rangers haven't won a single game this series, we've lost two.

It's not about them. It's can we field swinging bunts or make contact with bases loaded.

My bad. The newest advanced metric from TexAgs Houston Baseball and Tlttles Labs:

GOBIFOY+

I just don't think we see much of Garcia next year. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

So if this series makes it back to MMP I say we sell a bunch of tickets on Ranger fan sites. Pack that MFer with a bunch of blue and red.

I would turn on the fire hydrants outside, flood the field and offer to play all 5 at MMP North Campus

Gotta get the GOBIFOY+ up and that lineup would go a long way.

Feels more like correlation.

Game order hasn't changed in 2023, Astros have batted in the bottom of the order before this season at home

I've had a former Astros player tell me that some of the guys (righties) tend to get in their heads and pull the ball more at home with the short porch

Of course, the team who scores first wins more often. What kind of captain-obvious information is that?

Next step would be to see if Astro pitchers more prone to give up early runs at home v road.

I think that is a smart strategy. They should try to use the Crawford boxes. They're a home-field advantage if we can pull flyballs.

Here are the #s. I don't see anything too wild. The main RHH do play better on the road, except Chas.

Home RHH - 41.3%
Away RHH - 42.1%

Altuve
Home - 49.2% (123)
Away - 51.9% (184)

Bregman
Home - 44.4% (116)
Away - 40.9% (134)

Abreu
Home - 34.6% (81)
Away - 33.3% (91)

McCormick
Home - 46.0% (144)
Away - 42.8% (123)

This guy was on the team several years ago.. so it's very possible that's not the case anymore. Just thought it was interesting.

Today's the anniversary of Pujols' shot, so glad there's no game today.

Also the anniversary of the franchise being awarded in 1960, which is pretty cool.

Tomorrow is the 19-year anniversary of one of the best playoff memories we had pre-2017, Brandon Backe pitching his ass off in the 2004 NLCS and Jeff Kent hitting the 3-0 walk-off off Isringhausen. Jeff Kent is high on the list of "guys I know are a massive D*bag except that they're on my team."

Backe was 5-3 with a 4.30 ERA in the regular season that year. In that game he pitched 8 innings of 1 hit shutout ball, and Woody Williams (the good version of him, not the version that played for the Astros), pitchd 7 innings of 1 hit ball. Bagwell singled in the bottom of the first and we didn't get another hit until Beltran singled to lead of fthe bottom of the ninth. Their only hit was a 6th inning single by Tony Womack.

In the last of the 9th, Beltran singled, Bagwell flied out (of course), Beltran stole second so they walked Berkman intentionally and Kent went yard ball.
