Maybe I'm just slow but I am not following the logic of how a 3rd catcher allows Dusty to play Diaz more. Diaz isn't starting at 1st or LF. He may start at DH. Even if he does, Dusty is willing to PH the catcher / pitching position for the rest of the game. He's got a deep enough bench to be fine there.

For me I would have taken someone with jets. Someone you can bring in late on 2B to run and potential score a winning run.

I wish we had a speed demon to put in. I said a few times a while back that we should call up Corona or Melton. Both had a ton of SBs and a future in this organization.

Do you think Hunter pitches at all in this series? He'd be the one I'm most worried about. Maybe an inning in a lower stress situation (if that even exists in the postseason).

I don't think they'll treat it any differently. It's a very unlikely scenario. If he gets hurt then Kessinger can finish the game. Odds are it would be over very soon anyway since Diaz PHs in the 8th or 9th. Then next game you call up Salazar the next game.
If you take Maldy out, Diaz in the 5/6 inning...back up catcher. If Abreu gets hurt, Diaz at 1st...back up catcher.
Unless Dubon starts, if any other infielder gets hurt, Dubon fills in. Kessinger just makes zero sense to me.
