Thome was still pretty young in 1995. But honestly move Vizquel to the back of that lineup and they would have mashed even more. He was the only one that didn't have an OPS over .800. Serrento didn't bat over .300, but the other 7 guys had BA >.300 and OPS >.800.

Belle was well over 1.000 and Thome and Manny were almost there in the high .900s.

Good pitching can shut down good hitting, especially when pitchers like Maddux got an extra 3-6 inches off the plate every night.

A few thoughts:

• We expect Neris to be a weapon, but Stanek might be too with how poorly some of the Twins hit offspeed.
• Breaking balls are pretty much hard for everyone except Yordan. What a freak. Near the top of all pitches.
• I see you, Doobie. Who would have guessed he'd crush offspeed so well? I guess that is how he makes up for not hitting heaters.
• If Vazquez plays, he cannot see a fastball. He's so poor vs breaking and offspeed.
• Minny is one of the few teams that hit fastballs as well as us. The plan of attack has to be a heavy does of sliders, curves, and change-ups.
