I was curious enough to look it up and it took some doing, it's actually been THIRTY YEARS, 1993, since none of them made the playoffs.

Obviously, that doesn't include the strike year of '94.

Since 1990, years WITHOUT the playoffs for those 3 teams are:

Yankees: 1990-1993, 2008, 2013-2014, 2016, 2023

Red Sox: 1991-1993, 1996-1997, 2000-2002, 2006, 2010-2012, 2014-2015, 2019-2020, 2022-2023

Cardinals: 1990-1995, 1997-1999, 2003, 2007-2008, 2010, 2016-2018, 2023.

2023 is the Cardinals first losing record since 2007, and their first time losing 90+ games since 1990. I got my driver's license in 1990.

In the pre-wild card 1993 era, the Cardinals went 87-75 and finished 10 games behind the Phillies in the NL East.

The Yankees were 88-74, 7 games behind Toronto in the AL East, and the Red Sox went 80-82. I'm suddenly very nostalgic for those old division alignments.

Crazy. The cardinals (and honestly the Yankees) have been the model for consistency pretty much the 21st century.

He's going to catch JV and Framber for sure. There's a very good chance he catches 75 percent of the games.

We damn well better have a 3rd catcher so Diaz is available to PH for someone late.

it's the Astros, Braves, and Dodgers that are providing the "star power" for TV ratings for the playoffs (plus Bryce Harper)

as a result the wildcard series look a bit underwhelming -- especially compared to last year (Phillies-Cardinals and Padres-Mets)

I have a feeling the MLB execs are praying for an Astros vs Dodgers/Braves World Series rematch.

Dodgers vs Astros for the "2017 rematch" storyline. Braves vs Astros for the star power

Not sure if any other potential matchups are rating draws. Maybe LA vs Baltimore?

As an Astros fan, I want nothing to do with the Braves.

Nothing wrong with preferring a lesser opponent but we are capable of beating anyone. And losing to anyone.
