Unless it is 7-0 or 0-7 it is a split series. How is that possible with four teams within a half game of each other:
If Texas and Seattle split their 7 games, one team would finish with 72 losses.
At 91-71 Astros, Rangers need to go 8-2 to pass Astros If those 2 losses are to angels, then Seattle finishes behind Astros. If a loss is to rangers, then that's one less win Astros need because the loss by Seattle reduces the Astros magic number.
Even if Astros go winless this weekend, the magic number goes down because Seattle or rangers also are losing.

Correct, 10 still the magic number but 4 losses are assured, so it's 6 wins to clinch a playoff spot, division will depend on the distribution of losses and the H2H with Seattle.

A 3 way tie for the division comes down best overall record between the 3 teams just including the 3 teams. So these last 10 games (for the Ms) would really come into play.
At 11 wins among the 3, a three-way tie is not good for the Astros

And to the surprise of absolutely no one the A's haven't won a game since their series in Houston and watching the highlights last night against Detroit they looked like some Bad News Bears minor league squad
Right now, Houston and Seattle control their own destiny regarding winning the division, but a Houston loss and Arlington win today, the Rangers then control their destiny. All 4 teams control their fate for the WC. Every game moving forward is going to feel season-ending.
