One difference I noticed last night is that Baltimore went with a focus on American born players vs our focus on Latin America players. Obviously not 100% with either team, but it wasn't hard to notice the difference.

You don't need a cy young guy but a solid #3 starter would go a long way. Jordan Montgomery, Eduardo Rodriguez, or Michael Wacha come to mind as free agents

This is why you can't lose series to to 100 loss teams. This is why you shouldn't tinker with the lineup and play multiple minor leaguers during the first half of the season. This is why you don't spend the most vital part of the offseason without a real GM.

I don't think there's a scenario where Dusty returns. If they were to re-sign him, there's a couple key pieces of this team who would want out.

It's a sad situation. And completely avoidable.
No way to know definitively, but this organizational misalignment noted above seems to reflect what we are seeing on the field.
