I'd heard a rumor a while back that the front office told him he was too focused on his side hustles (salsa, horses, etc.) and not focused enough on baseball.
Didn't pay it much mind, and haven't seen any official announcements that he's quitting the salsa game.

I can buy that. There was about a 6 month span I think in about 2021 where he only ever posted about salsa and horse racing. Now he posts a lot more baseball stuff

I feel he's as good since the All-Star break. The way he's been using the opposite field lately has really added to his game. Of course, his defense has stepped up as well.
His overall season numbers aren't at that level but he's been on fire lately. Whole team heating up at the right time.

Bregman is probably the most sense financially based on this years performance and players not ready behind him in the farm system.
I totally get the emotional appeal of Altuve. If deserves factors in, he's your guy. Between starting the transformation, dealing with the scandal, and coming up in the system, there's no competition.

I don't think many will fight you on this. I assume Altuve isn't looking for 6/180 M. Give him 3 year 75 M with team options for year 4 & 5 at 15 M & a 5 M buyout for each season. Worst case he gets 3/85. Best case he gets 5/105.
There's no reason to extend Altuve early. You don't see vets under contract get extended early to end their career.
