I thought about them and it certainly seems like a Mets move. The only thing is it would go against what they said for their immediate strategy moving forward, but for Trout they would probably make an exception.

I've always thought Trout was destined to be a Yankee at some point. Granted probably when he's way past his prime, and the guy has amazingly never had any desire to leave Anaheim... but it seems inevitable.


I also think the Yankees are going all in on Ohtani. They've been surprisingly quiet on it, and everyone says it's West Coast or bust... but just feels like they need something major after this year and Ohtani checks that box.

So I guess you can claim multiple guys with one claim.

It's not like claim one guy then you have get in the back of the line to claim another.

Ohtani is probably only a DH in 2024 and unclear if he is back
Pitching in 2025. His value as a DH only isn't worth Trout type money.

Rangers and Mariners have two more remaining games to play than the Astros do...was kind of surprised to see that neither are playing today while we are off, too.

Giants got the most out of him in 21 and 22, but then he forgot how to pitch for LAA. Don't be shocked if Seattle finds a niche for him.

Peeping the last three series I really like the setup for the Astros in the final push.

Astros - Face the Royals/Mariners/Diamondbacks

Mariners - Face the Rangers/Astros/Rangers

Rangers - Face the Mariners/Angels/Mariners

Rangers and Mariners get to beat each other up for 6 games. We just have to take care of business while one of those teams is guaranteed a loss in each of those. I'm thinking our much higher playoff % chances compared to Rangers/Mariners is tied to these 6 games. Rangers get somewhat of a break with the Angels series but the Mariners have a TOUGH draw. They better hope they have some left in the tank, they've had to exert a lot of energy in this A's series and have more games to play than us.

The Blue Jays have an easy stretch here with series against the Rockies/A's/Royals, but it steps up some to finish Rangers/Red Sox/Yankees/Rays/Yankees/Rays. I like seeing the Rays matchups but I hope they aren't running away with the WC at that point. Blue Jays should be talked about a bit more with them only being 2.5 back of the WC.

And they got something for them in return for the future.

Now they have what they got previously and almost free rentals upgrades for the last almost 30 games. Why they hell not? It's gravy on top. Make the race close and that means more seats, concessions, and revenue. Luck out and make up 5 games and watch out.

Sorry, got him mixed up with Lopez who the Guardians also got. Thought he might be someone to kick the tires on at the back end of the bullpen. He's K'd 19 over 13 since joining the Angels.
