My guess....

2B Altuve
3B Bregman
LF Yordan
RF Tucker
CF Chas
DH Brantley
1B Singleton
SS Pena
C Maldonado

If Maldonado must play, I like this a lot.

This line-up can do damage. Let's go, boys.

Why are we switching Alvarez and Tucker now? So dumb. It has been working good.

I didn't even notice that at first to be honest. Probably because Dusty reads this thread and didn't want to give me the satisfaction of being right.

To get Kyle going -- using the fear of Alvarez to get Tucker some better pitches is my guess.

Only change I would make is Diaz at 1B when Abreu is getting the day off.

I love Dusty seeing the benefits of giving Abreu more days off for the back. Really benefits all parties - benefits Abreu, the Astros, and Diaz/Singleton.

Thats actually a combo that I don't really care if they switch here and there. Both are lefties. Both are dangerous. Both can be clutch. Both hit for power.

Boston's starter went 6 innings and gave up one run last time he faced us. Let's jump on him early.

so since Brantley's return...

we have not seen Chas and Yainer in the lineup in the same game...0 for 2

leaving a .500 slugging % guy on the bench in a small ballpark (edit...or frankly any ballpark)

okay...

Real #s, because I can't talk stats without pausing work to look them up.

Carlos Zambrano vs. Houston: Basically a Cy Young season for his career #s
17-8, 2.01 ERA, 3 shutouts, 233 IP, 199 K

He only pitched 5 shutouts for his whole career, and 3 were against the Astros.
He also hit 6 career home runs against the Astros in 39 career games. So on a 162-pace, he was a 25-home run guy against us.

Sammy Sosa vs. Houston: Oddly played 163 games against the Astros and had 42 home runs and 104 RBI. His #s for his career at Coors Field in Colorado are hilarious: 21 HR in 46 games, .350 batting average, .758 slugging percentage.

Jim Edmonds vs. Houston: 136 games, 532 at-bats, 31 home runs, 87 RBI, .284 average. For those big 3 stats, he was better against us than anyone else in his career.

I know this will be an unpopular take around here but I'm ready to see Diaz catch Framber a few times. Get that battery ready to go in case we need it in Oct.

I don't think this is going to be an unpopular take at all on this board.

I don't think this is unpopular here at all. I'd love for Diaz to catch ~60% or more of our games we just know it ain't going to happen this year. The idea of Diaz not hitting in the first 2 games of a series makes me irrationally angry.

And Jim Edmonds would make circus catch after circus catch robbing hits. That play he made on ausmus in 2004 was nuts and saved the series for them. 2004 team was so stacked.

Haha just messing around. At this point I'm game for it though. I would like to have that battery option in October.

"Jim Edmonds is part of my historical trifecta of centerfielders along with Fred Lynn and George Springer would would be first ballot HOFers, all-time greats if they could just stop getting hurt."

I nominate Eric Davis for that list.

No idea what the actual numbers are, but in recent memory, the one guy that seemed to kill us no matter what team he was on or how terrible of a season he was having was Calhoun

He's already been mentioned, but Willie Stargell was one of those guys. No matter the situation, Willie always found a way to hurt you.

Is it safe to assume we throw France, Valdez, & Verlander for the Rangers? That assumes we keep JV on 5 days rest and Urquidy in the bullpen.

To be honest, I was just playing the straight man. I got a chuckle out of what you said.

I'm with you though - I wouldn't mind a game or two for Diaz to catch Framber before the season ends.

Diaz isn't a good enough shrink for Framber.
