You are taught that in Little League.
But you have to consider that Joey Gallo has probably been on second base like 10 times in his entire career. It's strikeout 93% of the time and home run the other 7%.

Exactly. And it was not like it was a line foul shot. He could have fallen and crawled back to second after he saw the ball was foul. It was in the air a long time.

And I agree the other was bad too.
