I'm a little surprised that Dusty's old school mentality doesn't put more weight on "streaks" and getting hot. It's almost like he's a bad mix of all baseball theory. Except for last year's post season.

It's hard to be consistent when you don't know if you are playing or where in the lineup you are batting from day to day. Of what position you are playing.

Some of that is injuries. Last I saw we were neck and neck with the Dodgers for total games missed. Something close to 1500.

Some of that is Dusty and his random lineups. And making mistakes because you are playing a position you have never trained to play.

Really bad time for Tucker to get sick
And for Donkey to treat this like just another game. Can't wait to see the lineups he puts out in Boston.

I'm sure we'll see OF COURSE Maldy behind the dish with some golden or platinum sombrero's along with a heavy dose of Julks and Singleton.

Sure hope Altuve doesn't get the sniffles or his ass will be out for the series. Got to make sure our guys are all well rested.

Heck, maybe even give them all of October off...genius!!!!

Time to send Singleton back to AAA and get Brantley up here. Shouldn't think twice.

We are one loss away from our regular season total last year. Let that sink in.

Maybe the team is ultimately content with last year's ring just like its manager.

yep, Dusty might manage this team to a minus 20 record from last season

106 wins to 86 wins

Maybe the team lost over half its starting rotation and Altuve and Alvarez were out for long stretches?

I tried to find the quote this morning but it was from a couple of months ago and we had gone a little mini-streak and Donkey just couldn't wait to say how that Maldy was a good luck charm or some nonsense yet when we go something like 11-2 with Diaz behind the plate it's crickets.

Lots of regression on pitching as well. (Although last year was not going to be replicated even if Dusty made every right move)

Astros need to rebound quick. Singleton is definitely a AAAA player, hopefully Brantley has some gas in the tank.

Abreu and Brantley are such kicks in the junk. Abreu sucking and Brantley being injured forever have made it to where we literally cannot miss a single bat because we have AAA players filling in for them 24/7.
and this is the piece that Dana owns

he did not upgrade the bench at the trade deadline

…or maybe missing 3 of your 5 expected starters for 90% of the season and then missing several top bats for months at-a-time is also impactful.

Obviously, I think Dusty being in the dugout after last year was a huge mistake, but it's not exactly apples to apples in terms of last year to this year.

Yet France kicked ass, Dubon was terrific for a long stretch, Diaz was incredible (in limited action) and we were able to weather the storm.

However, we were managed by a Donkey who thought you had to split up your left-handed hitters regardless of how well they hit lefties, played a 37 year old WAY past his prime catcher over a potential ROY, and slept walked through most games, leaving in starters 2-3 batters too long and rarely challenging anything. Also, despite being abused by blue all season long hasn't laid into any of them.

I mean I hate to be cavalier about Brantley's health, but what do we have to lose by bringing him up? The season is already almost over, if he tweaks an injury and is lost for the season/career we're just where we are now.

Seattle lost Robbie Ray and Marco Gonzales from their rotation early in the season

That is exactly why not playing your best players early in the season and already worrying about load management in the first 50 games of the season was a terrible mistake.

First, you don't know when you're going to get those guys back and second, there is no guarantee you're going to play .750 ball once they do. Now, you've pissed away all those games...games you could desperately use now to weather the inevitable cold spell here and there.

Regardless of who the manager is next year, hopefully they will have learned this lesson.

Feeling a little lucky they traded away their closer. Allowed them to lose a couple games to the O's they probably should've have.

Pretty amazing but we are exactly where our Pythagorean win expectancy says we should be

602^1.83 / 602^1.83 + 521^1.83 = 122,084/216,000 =.5652

.5652 x 125= 70.65.

Unfortunately we just aren't very good.

2 non division leaders there. But the Astros are the ones "teetering". Lol

$12 MM is on the line

re: salary insurance

Which one of the non-division leaders is the one "teetering" comparatively in your estimation? The one that's NLWC1 or the one that's 4.5 games up on the Astros now?

Just checking since both positions seem better than being tied in the loss column for the final WC with both teams right there with you having the tiebreaker.

I know it feels like it's just us, but every team is dealing with injuries. And every other team has played the same amount of games.

So the "our guys are tired" excuse drives me crazy. Every team is tired. Every team has multiple injuries.

What's even more infuriating is when a guy sits that just went OFF the day before and Donkey says "it was scheduled" yet he can sit or start Singleton on a whim and when pressed say "manager's decision."

Hey f*** face, sometimes you ride the hot hand when a hitter thinks the ball looks like a beach ball and you throw your f***ing scheduled day off in the trash that day. Then when the hitter goes a little cold a few games later, voila, give him his off day then. It's not rocket science.

Thats dumb. They're wild card teams today, and a lot of baseball left. If you think it's over by all means log off.
