No, as he got up the ball fell to the ground. He didn't make a play to transfer the ball. If the ball would have fallen because of the transfer, they would have called the catch.

It hit the ground as he was walking it off.

From what I've gathered (I'm no umpire) it has to hit the glove first to count. I think even if it did hit the glove first it would not count in this case either.

although it would hurt like hell, theoretically what if the catcher bare handed it? That's where I'm confused
