If that last pitcher wasnt a slider it was at least the same shape and location that he just cant seem to lay of off

I feel he's kind of put himself in this position where he's swung so often at the slider away, that pitchers are staying there with both slider and fastball because he's trying not to swing at anything in that area.

Pitchers have gotten easy strikes throwing fastballs in that location, so now, if he noticed fastball in that location, he's starting to swing at that too.

The only way to fix it is to lay off the slider out there more and then hit the few pitches that are out of that location.

I know we wanted more, but they did a good job of being able to get the lineup to flip in the ninth

Pena is frustrating AF

He'll get down in the count and he'll watch a pitch down and away and I'll think 'GD he's figured it out!' only to be let down by the next pitch which is 2 feet into the other box that he flails at.

Like the pitcher says to himself 'OK well I guess I gotta throw it further outside' then boom he's done.

But look at the 1st two games of the series. He lays off the slider away, but the pitcher comes back with a fastball on the edge in the same location and get a strike call. So, now he's also got to worry about fastballs there too instead of them trying to bust him inside like they used to do the first half of last year.

So, now he has to foul off those fastballs AND lay off sliders in the same location to get pitchers to pitch him a different location.

He's put himself in quite the pickle.

I think it's going to take a lot of off-season work this off season to fix the issue.
