The team is rounding into shape. Need to score more but … pitching wins titles. Imo the defense is pretty much top of the heap and that of course helps the pitching.

The Astros squad doesn't believe in jinxes or karma. They've proven that **** for years now.

Sure- and those guys are super skilled defensively. Yordan isn't as skilled. What's easy to some isn't for others.

They've tried. Believe me. It wasn't going to work.
This answer makes more sense.

If he isn't that skilled, why do we ever let him play OF? There was a ball today hit into the gap that I'm 100% sure Julks/Meyers/Dubon/Chas catches. It ended up not mattering, but that won't always be the case in a 1 run game.

We currently hold the tie-breaker.
and we will unless they sweep us in that last series, correct?
Yes. 1 more win secures the head-to-head record.

I still do not understand why we haven't made Yordan into our 1st baseman?
Because he's not a first baseman. You can't simply just put someone somewhere they've never played. It's a tough position at this level.
You mean like infielders who become pitchers, or catchers who become infielders and then outfielders, or 3B who become 1B?

There are countless examples of guys switching to positions they've never played. I'm not saying do it in the middle of the season, but I will never be convinced it's too hard. If he can run around in LF every other game, he can learn to cover a base and catch throws from the INF.

I don't really see how you could've watched Yuli all those years and think it's as simple as covering a base and catching throws from the infield. It's SO much more than that.

Chas up to 29 x-base hits

in 234 at-bats

maintaining his outstanding x-base hit to at-bat ratio

just about 1 every 8 at-bats

Not sure what you're trying to get at.

They tried during ST one season and for whatever reason it didn't work. Each position is a different skillset.

Same reason Altuve is a serviceable 2B but would suck at SS.

I'm not saying he's not skilled. He's just not skilled in the same way that the guys you mentioned are who are able to transition to other positions. That's incredibly difficult at this level.

Yordan is a fine left fielder. He'll never blow you away, but he's not a liability either. He does have a very strong arm. He's also very vocal behind the scenes on wanting to play left field. The numbers show he hits better when he plays the field- which is pretty common for a lot of guys.

Pete Rose moved to first base at age 38

and then proceeded to be a 4-time all-star at first base

Sure. And that's Pete Rose. Not Yordan Alvarez.

Some of us are skilled at certain things that others aren't. I don't get why this is so hard to grasp.

They've worked him out at first base and they determined pretty fast that it wasn't going to work.

I'll also add that one of the reasons why LA gave him up was because of his lack of versatility. He was a below average outfielder and didn't have the ability to play other positions. The universal DH wasn't around then. He's come along way and worked hard to be a capable left fielder.

Yordan's knees are why he's not at 1B

This isn't little league. You can't put just anybody at 1B.

Dusty, stop playing Julks.

Another day another win. Good sweep of a bad team. That's been a while. Rangers, the ball is in your court.

That's actually not why. His knees are in good shape and they're confident he won't have problems going forward with them.

Wouldn't that put more strain on the hamstrings and groin than the knees?

Donkey did his best to try to give this one away playing his pet Julks, who continues to suck.

I like him and I like his story but this is the home stretch, no time to play favorites or letting a guy find his groove, especially a rookie.

Also, Chas is hotter than the sun. WTF are you still batting him 7th. I know you don't like him Donkey but I assume you like winning, right?

Astros give guys as much rest as needed and ease them back.

This seems like the opposite of that.

When are the Astros going to call up someone mid season who can actually hit the mfing baseball?

Give Singleton a shot

This grainy footage of Singleton destroying baseballs in Sugar Land reminds me of when Yordan was doing that in AAA. What are we waiting for?

Looks like all of it - hamstrings, groin, knees.
