It seems a bit dangerous to me to put a position player in to pitch batting practice and throw 50mph balls w no action without a screen. It was like a home run derby kind of fell.

From what I've gathered watching games and reading articles is that the only advantage Maldy has over Yanier is that he communicated better with the pitching staff.

Inconceivable that the best backup catcher in baseball also appears to be on the same team as the worst starting catcher in baseball. Seems like there's a simple solution somewhere in there that anybody beyond a complete moron could see.

I always hated this line of thought. Just watching Diaz yesterday behind the plate, he really took charge out there, and you could see he was working well with Brown. So is Maldy to blame for Framber sucking lately?!?! It should go both ways, right? Maybe he can't "call a good game" anymore on top of his putrid hitting and defense.

Crane is a tough spot with the payroll.

in the last 2 months, Bregman has played like the best third baseman in the American League.

like someone you want to (make an offer to) stick around

I don't fully understand the fascination with bringing JV back. Coming off a Cy Young season, we weren't willing to pay him what he's making, but now we'll pay that plus whatever we trade to get him. And he's struggled more this season.

I like him, and really would love to see him get into the Hall with an Astros hat, but if we're trading assets, I'd prefer considering another pitcher all things considered.
