We've had fake out momentum so much this year. We had one really good stretch, but beyond that, it's been air out of the balloon.

He's been mentioned here a couple times by some of the guys on here. I didn't think it was realistic due to what it would cost. It was just an inquiry so I'm not sure exactly how serious the Astros are about it, but they did reach out.

Let me see if I can get some clarification before I share.

I have seen you say this over and over again, even saying it was two years since he has seen big league pitching redundantly.

The reality is he played last year for about a third of the year, He also started a rehab session this year. Where he was starting to adjust to the new rule.

I don't know if he will make a come back or not but the idea that it has been 'ancient of days' since facing big league pitching is just not factual.

A full year without seeing big league pitching is a very long time. That is factual. Ask literally any big league player and they will tell you that. Especially when coming off a major injury at 36 years old.

I was wrong when I said two years.. I'll admit that. For some reason I blanked on him playing last year. It happens. I'm sorry.

However, when I say the Astros aren't taking him into consideration when approaching the deadline, I say that as a fact. They aren't expecting much from him this year. Anything he's able to give the team is going to be considered a bonus. That's not speculation. That's what I've been told.

I love Uncle Mike. He's one of my favorite players. I would love for him to step in and pick up right where he left off. It's just asking a lot at 36 years old coming off a major injury.

Also... the brief rehab stint was in AAA. That's not big league pitching. But I digress.

I am (and have been) a big advocate of adding an impact bat. I believe it's absolutely necessary IF we want to make a serious run at a repeat. I also think it's necessary to add another SP. I used to think a solid 4/5/long relief would be ideal. However, with Javy's recent struggles I believe we need a solid 3/4, maybe a 2 if we can swing it.

Getting those two types of players will not be cheap. It would most likely require giving up pretty significant prospects from an already mediocre farm system. We'll see if Dana thinks its worth it.

Here's another quick update on my favorite prospect in the system. Kenni Gomez.

He missed a handful of games with a minor injury but he's back and having a really nice year so far in the FCL. Only 26 ABs but he's hitting .308 with a .419 OBP. 5 stolen bases as well.

You seen any news on Luis Baez injury? He was destroying the rookie league but been out the last week. Think he's the one I'm most excited about.
