Yeah, I'm irrationally hard on Cintron... and I readily admit it. The question is how unjustified is the judgment? I think he should wear quite a bit of it because of the lack of performance overall. Show me players improving over last year- so far, I don't see any.

I get that players have their own hitting coaches, but the position would not exist if it were irrelevant. Do your job and show results. I do not think Cintron has shown any and the results prove that out on balance.

What gets me about the Cintron hate is that A) Snitker is a hitting coach too but never gets mentioned and B) he never gets credit when hitters get better.

What about Dubon and Meyers this year? Yanier has gotten better and is adjusting well. The adjustment he made with Yordan last year during the playoffs. Abreu improving lately.

Is Meyers improved or is he just fully recovered from injury, finally?

Dubon said earlier this year that taking to Yordan helped him be a better hitter.

I have wondered about the 2 hitting coach positions, also. Maybe 1 is for mechanical adjustments and the other is for game plan on attacking opposing pitchers?

And neither of those things are improving!

They might go back to the 6-man rotation to give him some extra time off, though the timing of doing that couldn't be much worse with who they have to play this weekend. He's clearly worn out. His velocity is down around 91-92, where it was 94-95 last year.

Dubon, I'll give you. I don't know if that is the hitting coaches or not, but if I criticize them for the down sides I must give them credit for the upside. The one upside.

Meyers has a 93 OPS+ YTD after a 107 rating his rookie year. Part of it may be injury related, but he's not a valid success story at this point.

Abreu has a long way to go just to where he was career-wise, so I'm not sure how Cintron has done his job just yet. "Oh he doesn't suck as bad as he did two months ago" is not a metric of success.

Alvarez has a career 163 OPS+ with a 166 rating YTD. He had a phenomenal 2022 season, but a career low in 2021. Cintron was there for both, so do they wash out? Regardless, he has been a star since he got here and his numbers are maintaining, so I guess Cintron can get credit for not screwing him up?

Diaz is a rookie playing part of a season, and not even full time at that. I don't know how you can baseline his performance to tell if he's improving or not. I'll take your word for it if there's evidence to the contrary.

So, most of your examples- and even those were hard to find- do not support the argument you are trying to make. Just my opinion, which I grant is probably skewed by me wanting to find some common theme to the disappointment of this year. Dusty 1, Cintron 2. That's my story!
