That's why you've got to step on their throats earlier. Bases loaded and one out. Double play. That seems like the Astros this year…

13 hits to 5.
Up 4 runs in the 7th inning.
And we lost. We suck so much it's incredible. Only dusty baker could turn a World Series championship team into this.
don't worry we will throw a completely different line up out there tomorrow! He will have turned around….stoneca said:

Nah. He committed 100 M in the offseason. His head got too damn big and he thought he knew better. He clearly did not.
Try 3 years too many...Beat40 said:Farmer1906 said:Beau Holder said:

Fired a competent GM just to give too much money for a reliever and a year too many for an aging 1B.
Just frustrating.

Gameday says Dusty just got tossed...the man has a pulse.
It's too late. And only because Stanek did first.

Abreu was a guy they desperately wanted when he was signing in 2013, but they couldn't work out a deal. This to me reeks of a "he was good back then and he's available now, lets go get him". His regression last year should have been a warning. I'm by no means a Yuli guy, but we could have done better than Abreu. We should have let someone else make that mistake.Beat40 said:EastCoastAgNc said:Try 3 years too many...Beat40 said:Farmer1906 said:Beau Holder said:

Did you honestly think Abreu was going to be this bad?

The guys on this team think they're king $#!+ after waltzing to the ALCS 6 years in a row. They're getting a reality check this year. If anything, i hope this season breaks up any complacency they might have and serves as a wake-up call.
so you're saying #44 is important?stoneca said:

he's literally our entire team. Without Yordan the Astros aren't even a postseason team this yearagdaddy04 said:so you're saying #44 is important?stoneca said:

Funny thing is, the team isn't as bad as the record. We keep putting call-ups into high leverage games, and leave guys like Dubon and McCormick on the bench. Julks gets every chance in the world to play daily get into a groove, but Diaz, McCormick, Meyers and Dubon get a couple of hits and get rewarded with a bench day. Montero keeps getting trotted out to the mound in leverage situations, and is serving meatballs. Pitcher walks 3 straight--Dusty leaves him in for a 4th batter.
I get this isn't a 110 win team, but I'd venture to state that Dusty has cost ~4 wins this year compared to an average manager. That puts us right at/near the top of the west.
