13 games left before a big 4 game series in Arlington. A 9-4 record seems very doable during that stretch of opponents which would get us to 48-33 halfway through the regular season, but I guess Dusty's not too concerned about a tight division race today.

  • Similar to the AL Central, not a lot of good teams here. Buck-Os, Brew Crew, & Reds all near the top and shouldn't be selling.
  • Cubs are only 4.5 out of the division & 5.5 out of the WC, but most expect them to be sellers.
  • I think it's time to pronounce the Cards as dead. The 8.5 games aren't insurmountable, but they should be big-time sellers to regroup in 2024.
if the Cardinals are shrewd...they will consider dealing Arenado.

figure they got his best 3 years...ages 30, 31, 32

see if a team that needs a third baseman will take on the last 4 years (with some cash compensation thrown in)

Its wild to think about all the injuries we've dealt with this year.

Brantley has yet to play
LMJ is out for the year
Garcia pitched 5 games and is out for the year
Urquidy pitched 6 games and is out for 2ish months
Altuve was out for a long stretch
Chas has spent some time on the IL
And now Yordan is out for several weeks

Yet we're still on pace to win 93 even with our star FA signing being one of the worst in baseball for the first 2 months.

And from an OPS+ perspective, Tucker and Bregman are having their worst years since being rookies.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

noticed that Bregman only ranks 14th in OPS among MLB third basemen

He did not pick up the slack for Abreu's start, but hopefully he kicks it in gear to cover for Alvarez the next month. That would be a nice surprise.

Astros need him to be more than a league average third baseman.

They mentioned something about Dusty wanting to give him more time to warm up taking swings or something like that. Made it sound like it was temporary, just with the limited action and the oblique thing.

I kind of like it, with the lack of power this lineup has shown so far.
