On second thought would the Angels be dumb enough to trade Ohtani to a team in their own division? Much less to strengthen the Astros even more?

every trade deadline the Dodgers and Padres manage to convince teams that they have another 5 great prospects to deal...

and some team takes the bait every year

A) Framber Javier is just as good a 1-2 as Ohtani Javier. Plus Framber has the playoffs chops. Not staying he can't but Ohtani hasn't played a meaningful game in his entire career.

B) I'd stop including Lance in any projections for this season. He can't be depended on.

Framber is just as good a pitcher as Ohtani is.

You'd be giving up a top 8 pitcher, top 25 hitter for a top 8 pitcher and top 10 hitter

And you'd have to pay Ohtani about $50 MM a year going forward to keep him.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. All told that is an excellent game at the plate for Blue, a bit unfortunate for him that one of the few misses was pretty impactful.

I would love to see the Astros land Ohtani, not sure much is too much, but damn that would instantly make is the favorites imo

Vannessa Richardson? Ha, she is actually quite funny and smart. Used to be on 97.5 from 10-noon. Doing post game is a bit too milquetoast for her to shine though. Need a pure baseball person to do it.

Said he felt something strained (an oblique muscle?) while hitting Friday night, so he's being sat the rest of this series (yesterday and today) as a precaution.

He looked pretty jovial in the dugout yesterday (especially when Dubon made the leaping catch), so I assume it's nothing too serious.

Bats need to get going today.
