I gotta say, im sure it's exhausting for the players to play this many games in a row, but it sure is nice for the fans having Astros baseball every day for 17 days

Back to back 4 game series with no rest is ridiculous though. Should have Monday off and make it a 3 game set in Toronto

Another favorable one.

We've moved from 3rd to last to 4th to last.

at what point do the astros make a serious push to acquire Ohtani for a 1/2 season rental, seems like an absolutely perfect fit and the key to another title. Fills two gaping holes with one player

Curious as to what that package would look like

Can this crew come to Houston for all games?

Never. That trade package is going to look as ridiculous as his contract.

It's why I think only teams who plan to sign him will be in on him at the deadline. No one is gonna give all that for a rental.

Almost all that RE is the pitch to Peña. One out, men on 1-2 the RE is 0.902. Peña should have been called out and the next pitch outcome should have been 2 out, men on 1-2 with a RE of 0.440. So a change of 0.462.

Not as bad as the one the other night.

If I understand how they do this missing a pitch on a 1-1 count doesn't change RE as the basic game structure of outs and runners hasn't changed. Missing one at 1-2 does as it changes the outs. A miss at 3-2 changes both the outs and runners.

ETA damn I cannot add this morning.

You'd have to probably give up so much that it isn't worth

BBQ update. We went to Truth in the Heights pregame. It was really, really good. Highly recommend.

As much as a stud SP and a stud corner OF. Problem is even without Uncle Mike we need 1b a hell of a lot more than corner OF. And if Mike comes back we are actually pretty deep in the OF.

We'd be better off and probably give up less with a Stroman type and someone like CJ Cron.

Abreu since May 19th

PA 63
xBA .237
BB% 10%
K% 17%
HH% 50%
EV 90.9
LA 14

The actual #s are still pretty ****ty, but if he keeps drawing walks and hitting the ball like this, we'll be just fine at 1B.

He might be the only guy ever to do that.

I believe Bagwell has the record with 6 walks in a game.

6 Walks in a Game:
Jimmie Fox (1938)
Walt Wilmont (1891)
Jeff Bagwell (1999 - 16 innings)
Bryce Harper (2016 - 13 innings)

I just looked at the box score for that game in 1999. 16 innings and we had 7 hits, 17 BB and 21 K. We ended winning 6-4.

In the small fine print, Bagwell stole his 25th base of the season.

Not that it's uncommon, but word on the street is that Dana did talk to Ohtani's agent during this series. I have absolutely no clue the extent of those discussions, but they did at least talk.

I'd be willing to give up Framber and Tucker for Ohtani, and Korey Lee but that's about it

And that's only if we are dead set on doing what it takes to sign him longterm

We would be stupid to do it at the expected price. But if they want to swap Ohtani for Julks and Bielak I would be ok with that.

All joking aside I would not be shocked to see the Rangers pay that high price tag.

Absolutely not. Framber has completely come around. That is too high of a cost. Tucker is here a couple more years. I don't want to see either guy in the division.

You know we don't need to trade for him in order to sign him. Wouldn't it be nice to have Ohtani, Tucker, & Framber?

It's never ever ever ever ever happening.

Framber is great as is Tucker but I don't think we have any chance of signing both of them long term. Ohtani-Javier is the best 1-2 in the league, and I believe he can also play RF as well.

Ohtani, Javier, Brown, Garcia*, McCullers is an insane rotation, and Alvarez, McCormick, Ohtani is a great OF

We would need to, for this year. I agree it's not happening, I don't think they would take the deal above, but that's the most I would give up.

I'll be absolutely shocked if Ohtani doesn't end up a Dodger.

And it could be a sign-and-trade deal before the deadline.

an Ohtani rental starts with Gilbert, and includes 4 other players we don't want to part with.

You don't close your window to improve your chances on one post season run by 10%. Yes, whoever makes the rental agreement will most likely be the favorite, but how many times does the favorite actually win the whole thing?

If our window was already closing, sure it would be intriguing to have one more day in the October sun, but we aren't there yet. As frustrated as we can be right now, we are on pace for almost 100 wins and we have more playoff experience than almost all other teams combined. While someone may chant they want Houston, no one will really mean it, no one wants to play Houston when it really matters. They may not call us the favorite, but we are solidly in every conversation about who the favorite is.

Trade Meyers, Julks, Bielak and a top prospect for Ohtani. Gilbert will eventually be on the roster playing outfield.
