Here's a question - do you give up more than you'd probably give up to keep the Rangers from getting him? I think they're going to try to go all in on this guy.

Not saying I would, but do you even have that as a consideration if a team like the Phillies aren't going to let go of a guy like Nola.

Bieber would be an AWESOME addition. But man we'd have to give a **** ton. But......may be worth it to have him for this year's run and next year. It probably would mean departing with 2-3 top prospects plus a MLBer.

I'd give up ALOT for him (besides Gilbert). Imagine a 1-2-3 of Framber, Javier and Bieber.

No, I don't really worry about the Rangers moves. If it makes sense for us, great. If it's too expensive, pass. But this is the kind of arm I want. A legit playoff rotation arm. Not an innings eater.

The Rangers will need to be aggressive on the BP market.

That BP as-is won't get them very far in the playoffs.

But I do think they are going to try to add SP as well, and I think if they are in 1st place or close to 1st place by the deadline, they will also try to add another low end 1 or 2.

That was the only reason I asked the question. Do you maybe overpay to try to keep them from getting that 1/2 SP while you bolster your own rotation?

If we were the underdog and didn't know to win, sure. The Rangers need to overpay to prevent us from making a deal. Not the other way around.

I sure hope so, but they also don't need him to come in and be stellar. They want a veteran guy who can eat innings and if he finds his groove that's a huge plus. It's only a matter of time before Bielak and France regress.

That being said, they will have to overpay to get him.

Sticking with White Sox players... keep an eye on Eloy Jimenez

Jimenez is signed through 2024 and has team options for '25 & '26... that would be a very costly trade

It won't be as costly as you think. His defense is horrendous, he's been super injury prone and he's caused some problems in the clubhouse... but the dude can hit a baseball. I'm not saying he'll be cheap, but I don't think it will be super expensive either.

Houston just might roll the dice and see what a change of scenery will do for him. A lot will depend on Uncle Mike and his health. They would DH him and hide him in LF at MMP when needed.
