The As vs Framber to avoid the sweep. I don't like their chances.

Don't jinx it! Dusty will still have a strike out machine batting cleanup and the worst hitting catcher in the league batting as well as likely a AAAA player at DH.

We're on a 6 game winning streak bro, and 7 games over .500. We are likely to win the West going away and we will once again be the team to beat in the post season.

Have a drink. Relax. Enjoy it.

Bro, I get it but please explain Dusty's lineup to me other than "fan stuff." We should be winning these games easily and not taxing our bullpen.

It's easy to point to a winning streak and not the idiot talking about how many lefties a team has in their bullpen when his lefties hit them better than righties. It's infuriating. Ok, I'll enjoy this win and hopefully the Ags don't spit the bit.

Not sure the Rangers are going to go silently into that good night this year. Barring (more) injuries, we may have a dogfight this year.

You don't unload the chamber in May against the As. No successful franchise is run with that mentality.

This organization, long before Dusty, has had the mentality of using their entire roster extensively during the regular season, and then loading up on their stars in the postseason. It's a great winning strategy. This should be obvious. Because we win. A lot.

As I've said before, there's always fair room for criticism of Dusty or anyone else. I fully agree Yainer is under utilized.

But the over the top hate for both Dusty and Maldy this year is embarrassing. Houstonians are better then that. It makes you look like Yankee fan. Noone wants to look like Yankee Fan.you

I think they are a legitimate wild card team but we still win the west comfortably.

People on here were saying the exact same thing about the Angels this time last year.

It's May. We are barely past the quarter pole.

Because it's a 162 games season. You need to keep people fresh.

You also need to continue to develop your depth.

This mentality has kept us fresh and allowed us to develop the Frambers, and Javiers, and Hunters, and Penas, and Dubons.

This board freaked every time Dubon got PT last year. They freaked when Jake got PT at the beginning of this year. It's silly and myopic. Try to have a little perspective. Their is a much bigger picture at play the a single game.

Look, I get the keep people fresh stuff but that doesn't explain Abreu in the 4 hole. He needs a break more than anyone yet Dusty keeps trotting him out there to strike out and go 0-4. He should not be batting cleanup, full stop.

He also needs to give Maldy a "break"...he does not need to be having Maldy catching this many games when he has Diaz, who is throwing more guys out and hitting a LOT better.

As for Julks, I like his story but the book on him is out and pitchers know how to attack him now. He should not be the DH when you have Dubon and Meyers just sitting there...it's ridiculous.

.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but the lack of ABs for Diaz, who is considered the organizations top hitting prospect, is concerning, no?

It just seems odd to call up your top hitting prospect and then not use a bat…

Diaz not playing flies directly into the face of keeping everyone fresh. The catcher would be the #1 position you'd want to rest as much as possible through the heat of the summer.

The rest? As long as you're squarely in the playoff contention rotate everything you've got including calling guys up when possible to see what you have come playoffs.

Abreu batting 4th is one of the dumbest MFn things I've ever seen any manager or coach do.

I get playing him every night and letting him work out of it but in no sane state would anyone elect to hit him 4 where he's protecting the best hitter in the league.

If I'm an opposing manger Yordan gets 4 free balls every AB no matter what. No questions asked

There are plenty of better baseball minds on this board than me... but this feels like Barry Switzer back with the Cowboys in the 90's. The Cowboys had enough talent to win with an average head coach (Barry), but they weren't winning because of him. Dusty feels the same way.

I was traveling today, and of course in Astros gear, and it occurred to me. The best part about being an Astros fan is when I encounter a hater - I don't even need to know who their team is to be certain that the Astros own them.

I wonder what the record is for fewest extra base hits from the cleanup spot in the last 30 years. We will break that this year easily if Abreau isn't moved for good soon.

Even at what we were expecting, he's a 6th hole on this team.

I made this same point in the off season and someone told me it wasn't a good comparison. I still don't know how that poster came to that conclusion

Starting Maldonado 5 to 6 times a week is not developing depth. We apparently have no depth at 1B, but we could at least move our worst hitter out of the clean up spot.

Dusty's decisions go way beyond "keep everyone fresh."
