I wish he would develop some sort of injury -- say, anal fissures or whatever he pleases -- and take an extended rehab in AAA. He needs some confidence in a big way.

He is stubborn and won't do it as quickly as he should, but he will do the right thing eventually if Abreu keeps hitting like this.

I don't know if I can remember a guy that's supposed to be a hitter (i.e. not Maldy or Brad Ausmuff) ever have a slump this bad for this long. Other than guys who just fell off the cliff hard at the end of their career. Which I am now genuinely afraid is what this is.

Part of me thinks he has to be injured but the other part of me knows there is no injury that makes you take half ass swings at 58 ft curveballs.

Gallo & Belli might be decent comps to slugger turned zero turned decent again. They're younger than Jose.

As you know I have always been higher on Gallo than most, but he's a career .200 hitter.

Bellinger is a far better comp but he was only good for three years to start his career and then had injuries, so that's a little more explainable.

Abreu was a .290 hitter with power for a decade straight and not that he didn't have highs and lows, but was about as steady as they come & then just absolutely lost all of his power at the end of May 2022…He only has 1 HR in 350+ ABs since early August of last year!!!

Show me any true power hitter ever who has gone 350 ABs with 1 HR. I might be wrong, but I don't think you're going to find that anywhere in history.

Abreu has been horrendous and his BA is still 10 points hire than Bregmans.

Our next 12 are Cubs, As, Brewers, As. Framber-Javier get Cubs & Brewers. The As suck. No reason we can't go 8-4 or better. 29-23 puts .500 ball in the rear view.

With 6 of those 15 games against the As, I hope we can do better than 10-5 by a game or two.
