Pena has improved on hitting sliders. He now punishes misses over the plate and has gone the other wayon sliders up and slightly off the plate. He still chases knee to dirt sliders, but I have more confidence now than I used to.

Well let's hope he keeps developing to bump up successfully - I'm just saying there has been quite a few hang ups in particular with Whitley
Would love to see him actually make some progress, it's just seems to be a holding pattern not going anywhere.

Think you basically hope to have him late in the season and playoffs. Of course we have to make the playoffs first….
This could be an interesting first summer for Dana. Does he panic and trade one of our few good prospects to keep the ship floating or does he ride it out and hope to get just healthy enough. As frustrating as it is I'd lean towards the latter.

I think the roster is still good enough to just supplement. I feel like between Altuve/McCormick/Diaz (with more PT) together they can provide between 35-50 home runs and the summer months could heat up the offense. Bregman in the second spot is probably the make or break for how high a ceiling the team has (just speaking about this year). If he and Altuve are back to .380-400 OBP then we are back in business.MaxPower said:

Brantley is probably done. I doubt he's going to be up for another surgery and rehab.

It's definitely not closed with the pitching the team still has and Alvarez and Tucker on the team. But everyone else is going to need to get it together.
It occurred to me today the Braves have had Harris, d'Arnaud, Arcia, Wright, and Fried miss meaningful time and are still 25-12 or whatever. Counting on Michael Brantley or using his absence as an excuse for the crap sandwich start (Altuve's too, really) probably wasn't it to begin with.
Well, we knew we need to get better on offense at 1st, CF and Catcher.
We only signed an upgrade at 1 of 3, and he isn't producing at all.
It certainly doesn't look like we pulled all the right levers this offseason.
